I have Graves' disease but have been in remission for nearly 3 years now and am generally quite fit and healthy.
Last winter I had flu twice and the first time resulted in 7 weeks off work with me feeling like I did when I was hyper and absolutely exhausted. My GP did some blood tests which all came back in 'normal range' and eventually I managed to get back to work.
People keep telling me to get a flu jab this year but I'm not convinced as I've read that it can trigger a relapse of thyroid symptoms. Has anyone with graves any experience of having the flu jab ?
I think I'm just scared that it may affect my 'OK ' state at the moment, if that makes sense!

Yes, your reluctance to get a jab is understandable. If you feel well now you don't want to 'upset the cart ' so to speak'. However, this is a link which may be helpful (I must admit I've never had the injection myself). I am hypothyroid but those who have Graves will respond when they read your post.
Thanks for that. I didn't realise until I read that that I actually qualify for it this year as I'll be 65 in January! I think I'm just looking for reassurance although I know that at the end of the day it's got to be my decision.
I’ve been in remission from Graves since 2013. I’ve never had a flu jab and so far never had flu. I avoid touching door handles, banisters and that sort of thing when I’m out, I keep my hands away from my face, I wash them thoroughly and frequently throughout the day and I drink loads of water. Also take high strength vitamin C.
There’s loads of debate about whether to have it or not.
