My GP Sugery has offered me the flu jab. (I must fall into the over 18 under 65 with a chronic medical condition catergory). Is this a hypothyroid/Hashimoto reason or are they still treating me as if I have CFS/ME? Just wondered if it’s standard procedure to offer to Hashimoto/ hypothyroid patients.
Also, it takes me ages to get over a cold, but at the same time rarely get very ill. Just wondered if anyone else gets them and how they react?

I believe VitD is more effective. Have you checked the ingredients of the Flu jab you are being offered ? .... maybe you do not want or need those ingredients in your body !
Hi Marz, I just wondered if it was because of Hashimotos they are offering it, or because they still believe I have ME!
I think it has more to do with being paid by the companies selling the jab - sigh ! all good revenue for the issuing establishment. When I was in the UK last year I saw bunting in several places - have you had your flu jab ? ... 
Getting into my GP's practice these days is like breaking into Fort Knox. Wouldn't surprise me if they start asking for 10 forms of ID and make you complete an obstacle course first. But then come vaccination season they ring me up personally and tell me how they have got MY vaccination waiting for me at the surgery.
Maybe it's important to remember People bearing gifts and all that.....

To my knowledge, it is not offered to Hypothyroid patients as standard, but to patients who have an illness that comprises the immune system. I am a diabetic in remission and I have been having them for the past 4 years. I have never got seriously ill during the winter - just the odd cold, so personally, I highly recommend it.
It was reported recently that over 65's would be offered a jab with 3 strains and the vulnerable would be offered a jab 4 strains. Presumably the rest get 1 or 2 strains which is cheaper but not covering all the bases.
Also noted NHS staff being threatened off the front line if they do not have the vaccine as a third do not,wonder which vaccine they get?
For what this is worth: In England I got the flu every Christmas, spent a couple of days in bed - and survived. When I lived in Canada briefly I got the flu so bad I thought I would die. I was extremely scared of ever getting that again and it was said that swine flu was on the horizon so I got a flu jab. I never had a cold nor flu again for 10 years! So, if I were you I wouldn't get a jab every year since I think it is a lot more potent than we are led to believe. I have actually never had another jab and have never really had a serious cold nor flu.Oh and in the US they call them flu shots! I wonder why?
I started getting the flu jab offered once my Hashimoto’s was diagnosed, I think different health areas have differing practices based on there budgets. Apparently having hypothyroidism puts me in the high risk category. My husband also gets offered the flu jab due to his sarcoidosis.

Yes, interesting. I realize this is just anecdotal but when I did an experiment which entailed lowering my NDT dose I noticed that my second symptom was that I had permanent sniffles followed by a bad cold that left me languishing on the sofa for about a week. Those sicknesses are just not like me at all, it was so strongly a function of my low NDT dose. My first symptoms b.t.w. was just feeling tired. I was lowering my dose just to check out my doctor's constant nagging that my TSH was suppressed - he was wrong unless he expected me to remain feeling ill for the rest of my life.
