Has anyone taken this adrenal supplement and found it helped their low adrenal situation? Also did you have any difficulty in the early stages of taking it ?
It would be helpful to know as its giving me very heavy heads and tiredness . But I'm happy to put up with this if this situation eases as the body gets used to it?
I am currently on Nutri Adrenal, and am trying to switch to the NAX !
Thank you

I took a high dose B Complex quite a long time ago, before I knew the problem with B6 toxicity, and I ended up with peripheral neuropathy. Luckily I hit upon the cause of my problem before it became permanent and stopping the B Complex made the problem go away. I've always been reluctant to take high dose B6 ever since.
Thanks for your reply, I am aware of the extra ingredients and I was going to reduce my B complex, once I was on the NAX. The extra ingredient which I thought would be helpful is the 15mg of pituitary extract. As since I've had the adrenal insufficiency, my thyroid obviously isn't working well, so I thought the pituitary extract would be helpful ? However I'm finding the small amount I've started with is not very comfortable, so not sure if I'll continue with it ?
Yes I took it under Dr Ps guidance. (Had saliva cortisol test first). I was really poorly when I saw him. I was on 6 a day at one point. No other supplements though. Now I take just one Nutri Adrenal as a maintenance dose and I’m so much better.
Thank you so much for your reply Lynneypin. ....I was put on Nutri Adrenal about a year and 3 months ago, and my recent cortisol figures (saliva test), have not gone up that much, and I have got a lot of stress coming up soon, (an operation), so thought I'd switch to the NAX .
I'm doing the switching slowly as I find it's making me quite woosey and very tired.
Yes, very slowly. It was a few years ago now so I can’t remember exactly, but Dr P gave me a schedule. Didn’t have any problems, just started to feel better. I was woozy before starting it! Good luck. X
Thanks for that ! Trying to work out what's the best and most comfortable way to do the switching isn't easy ! Such a pity there is no Dr P around any more to guide us !!!
I have been taking it for a while, after weaning off Medrol for adrenal fatigue.
I find NAX to work pretty well, although two pills a day is too much for me (makes me jittery). That disappeared when I decreased it to one daily.
Thanks for the warning! As I'm doing the transition from Nutri Adrenal to Nutri Adrenal Extra, slowly, I will be able to monitor just how much I need, hopefully !!
As it's my morning cortisol that needs raising, I know I need something a little extra than just the Nutri Adrenal, which I've been on for a year.
I was on 2 NAX tabs about 6 years ago, and was fine on that. I then went to see a (very expensive) functional doc in London (re thyroid problems), who told me to stop adrenal supplements and put me on Pregnenolone ,DHEA and adaptogens!...... Well as you can imagine the adaptogens eventually lowered my cortisol, and I was completely unaware of it.......the private doc should have told me that I needed to test the adrenals every so often !!!!!!
True! Adaptogens are often recommend by functional doctors and naturopaths, but they are not without side effects...some lower cortisol and some raise it, and it's important to know your cortisol levels before adding adaptogens.
I tend to find the adrenaline in glandulars slightly overstimulating so have been considering switching to adrenal cortex. It seems it can be taken long-term and won't shut down your own adrenal function, unlike prescription meds like Prednisolone or Medrol.
Yes I've seen a functional doc as well as a nutritional therapist, and both of them insisted that adaptogens just balanced the adrenals and that " the clue is in the name adapt-ogens"! And yet on google it does say that they lower cortisol, especially on Dr Lam's site. The only one that RAISES cortisol is Licorice, and that has a tendency to also raise BP. So I wasn't going to risk that !
I wish you well on switching to adrenal cortex, when you try it ! It is so important to adequately support our adrenals, especially once they been weakened. Thank you for your encouragement today !!!
