Nutri Adrenal Extra

I was interested in A-drenal, by the same company (RLC) that manufactures Naturethroid and and WP Thyroid, and contacted their customer service as many countries are missing in the scroll-down menu, but they tell me they cannot ship to most European countries at the moment (due to import restrictions).

I have been doing some research, and I keep stumbling upon posts singing the praises of Nutri Adrenal Extra, the product also recommend by Dr. Peatfield.

I read a post by one of his patients who finally, after years of suffering, was on the way to recovery, thanks to Dr. P and Nutri Adrenal Extra. She writes that, although Dr. P recommended she take more than he usually recommends his patients (1200 mg daily), she noticed positive changes on 400 mg daily. I have tried to figure out how much that is. Each capsules contains 200 mg of adrenal, and the recommended dosage is 1-2 capsules daily, so I assume 400 mg would equal two capsules daily?

Dr. P told this patient that, if your adrenals are not working properly, your body will not be able to use thyroid hormone properly, so you need to stop taking all thyroid meds, and go on Nutri Adrenals Extra for six weeks before going back on thyroid meds.

That makes a lot of sense to me, and I am surprised no Hertoghe doctor even mentioned this. They all have you start on NDT and adrenal meds (Medrol or hydrocortisone, depending on the doctor) at the same time. Nobody ever told me to treat the adrenal glands first, before trying anything containing T3...

Has anyone else had great results with Nutri Adrenal Extra? If so, how much did you take?

I have to add something to this post. I have done some more research, and there is also a product called Nutri Adrenal, by the same company. Both Nutri Adrenal and Nutri Adrenal Extra have been getting 5 star reviews consistently. Has anyone tried them, and could recommend any of them? Or, could they be combined...?

I used to take Nutri adrenal, which helped a bit, but I had to take 4 a day. I can take one Nutri meds adrenal cortex for the same, or slightly better, result (with no nasty fillers). The cost works out about the same as nutri adrenal is very cheap, but I don't rattle as much

Anna69, some doctors believe adrenals will improve when thyroid is optimally medicated, some that adrenals and thyroid should be treated at the same time, while others believe adrenals should be treated first. I don't think one protocol can be right for all patients.

I have heard that Dr.P recommends some of his patients stop thyroid medication for 2 weeks while introducing adrenal support. While the protocol may be suitable for some of Dr. P's patients I doubt it is suitable for everyone. You're taking high dose NDT so you'll become very hypothyroid if you stop taking replacement for 2 weeks or longer.

Clutter, yes, you are right, there is no way I could off thyroid meds now, without ending up seriously hypothyroid...!

I did try Adrenal Extra and Dr P recommends you stop levo for 10 days only then gradually introduce it again. A dose of Levo takes about 6 weeks to leave our system. I had to stop Adrenal Ex because I got severe palpitations so stopped taking it as I knew I couldn't stop levo long-term.

Many members have felt better with their Adrenals being sorted out. I am well now and am on T3 only. I believe levo contributed to the palpitations.

Yes, Dr P recommended NAX for me, I took 6 a day before starting Nutri Thyroid. I hadn't been on any thyroid meds previously but was so poorly, I wept when Dr P listened to me..... I take a maintenance dose of 2 a day now...sometimes try dropping to 1 but I feel wobbly on 1.

Lynneypin,

Can I ask if you are happy with Nutri Thyroid?

An option for adrenals that I found worked ages ago (which I can't take since I was pregnant and now am breastfeeding..), is gaia adrenal support. I took it with my thyroid meds and it felt like the sun had come out. I would be very wary of coming off thyroid meds completely. The adrenals get tired from helping the thyroid if it is working sub optimally. If you were to support the adrenals so they might stop this job of supporting the thyroid..surely it is a risky thing?
