Igennus Triple Magnesium: Has anyone tried these... - Thyroid UK
Igennus Triple Magnesium
Are the forms of magnesium it contains the forms that are best for you? Have you checked what the different forms are for:

It is a blend of citrate, taurate and bisglycinate chelate.
Thanks for the links above. Will do some reading.
I wouldn't recommend taking it. Citrate is not a good source. It's made from black mold. Tablets are not a good way to take magnesium either due to fillers. There are a lot of pure ones available and much better for the Thyroid
Thank you Hibs. Can you suggest any please.
Hibs1, the fact that magnesium citrate is made from black mould is not a reason not to take it. Lots of people do well on magnesium citrate if they are prone to constipation. I'm sure magnesium citrate doesn't contain black mould and is highly purified before being sold.
Just as an example of surprising places where mould can appear ...

All Quorn contains the soil mould Fusarium venenatum strain PTA-2684. It’s grown in fermentation tanks, and nutrients are added to make it better for you. This fermentation process is apparently similar to how beer or yoghurt are made. This fungus culture is then dried and mixed with egg albumen (in the standard non-vegan version of Quorn) to bind it together, after which it’ll be textured into mince, chicken-style pieces, or whichever incarnation it’ll come in. For the vegan version, instead of egg albumen, potato protein is used as a binder.

I don't disbelieve you about mould being the source of citric acid. I just don't think it matters. It won't put me off buying magnesium citrate.
In the link you gave above the person who calls themselves "102" explains why it isn't a problem far better than I could.
I looked up magnesium citrate in wikipedia, and found out that it has chemical formula :
C6H6MgO7
So one molecule of magnesium citrate contains 6 atoms of carbon, 6 atoms of hydrogen, 1 atom of magnesium, and 7 atoms of oxygen. And it will contain the same atoms whether it is made from mould or whether it is made from a lemon.
Can you explain why the production of citrates from black mould is a problem or an issue?
The number of food products which have a fermentation stage is huge (tea, chocolate, alcoholic drinks, many dairy products (some butters, cheese, yogurts, etc.), yeast leavened products, Marmite, ... Even foods which do not essentially have moulds or yeasts often have them on in in them by the time they are prepared for consumption.
Just go for an autumn walk, especially in woodlands, and consider just how much fungal matter you might, indeed will, breathe in.
Of course, if you can tell us precisely what the problem is, we might understand better.
(Please don't just post links. You are telling us it is a problem. Now tell us why. Links are good to show where you got your information from and to provide further reading but it is not reasonable to expect all of us to go reading documents all over the place.)
Please also consider the consequences of demonising citrate. People might be excessively alarmed, possibly needlessly. Others might find that they cannot afford alternatives - or that they do not work as well for their needs. Which really isn't helpful if there is no substance to the allegations.

Magnesium citrate is only recommended for people with ibs-c because it loosens the bowels. If you want to be taking magnesium as a laxative you are therefore not absorbing it all in the bloodstream and then cells. It's not going to up the magnesium then! Hence why first glycinate and then malate are the preferred forms for absorbing magnesium. Pure powder in a capsule for glycinate or powder for malate as it's difficult to find malate in a capsule form without other ingredients. That's the information I have. It's up to each person to decide what their needs are 're magnesium
My point was that indicting black mould is criticising absolutely ALL products that contain citrate. I did not say it was the best form.
The points you make in your reply may all be valid - I am certainly no expert. But the point about black mould is questionable and I have questioned it.
