Just enquiring to find out if I need to leave a gap between taking my thyroxine and using the natural progesterone cream I have to stop the heavy bleeding I’m experiencing. At present I use the cream about an hour after taking my tablets and apply more in the evening before Bed.
Thanks. X

Thank you, that’s what I was thinking too, didn’t know if it had to be at least 4 hours, as I make sure I leave at least 4 hours between thyroxine and my ferritin and other vitamin tablets.
You could read what Ray Peat says about progesterone. I don't think creams offer much of a dose and would not interfere with your pills. Where are you applying it? Ray Peat suggests the gums absorb better. It takes about three months to reach optimal levels.
Thank you I will look into what Ray Peat says. I apply it to different body parts daily from day 6 to day 28. It says it absorbs best in insides of arms, legs, neck, face, feet or hands. Was trying to only use it from day 14, as I would still like to have a baby, but if I don’t use it, I bleed heavily for weeks, or I go up to day 50 in a cycle so I’m probably perimenopause now and no hope of pregnancy. I already know I don’t ovulate. I’m back at the hospital next month for a check up so will find out about other options to stop bleeding then. It’s ruining my life at mo, having to be near a toilet all the time.
I'm so sorry, Lordy, and hope you can improve your situation. Ray Peat is a real authority but I've also posted you tube videos by John Bergman who also understands hormones. From most of the speakers who are functional doctors they start with hormone therapy on patients. Dr. Bergman has many videos about hormones but the biggest aspect is that your adrenal glands use cholesterol from your liver to make the sex hormones along with steroids and cortisol. So fixing adrenals is important but if the thyroid isn't delivering the adrenals have to make up for it. Low thyroid is a cause of heavy bleeding.
Finding a doctor who knows how to do all this is the problem. I've done some on my own through trial and error using DHEA, adrenal cortex, pregnenalone but I'm way past having more children. You still need hormones when you are older.
I'm glad you notice an improvement using the cream. I order molecular progesterone complex from Forefront of Health. He seems to agree with Ray Peat. It's in a vitamin E solution and you apply it to your gums. The cream can also be placed on the labia so you could use toilet tissue for better absorption.
In actuality it ALL comes down to your nervous system. Doctors don't understand this but you can learn. youtube.com/watch?v=JPcPOKc...
I am currently using a progesterone cream but have been wondering about the forefront molecular progesterone oil and thinking of ordering some - do you find it easy to use? and do you think it is effective?
Hi Redlester, from my reading the creams are hard to absorb and Ray Peat suggested the gums made easier access using a vitamin E or mct base. I put a few drop inside my bottom lip and then press from my lower cheek to move it around my gumline.
If your adrenals are rattled they need progesterone to make cortisol. I think it keeps other hormones in check.
Hmnn Heloise - thanks for your reply. I'm saying "hmnn" because I'm not sure what you are describing sounds easy to administer at all - or maybe it takes practice to make perfect. I did like the formulation or composition of his product though, so I might order some and see how I get on. I find the cream absorbs really well and is very effective. Dr John Lee was an advocate of the cream.
I just didn't like using my fingers so found that better for me. You could probably just let it sit inside your lip. But if your cream is absorbing well, why change? That cream may be better than the other products available. I'll check Lee's product.
I'm using the Elan organics one - which he has endorsed as being the most effective but it isn't "his cream". Delivery comes from USA and takes a bit of time which is a bit of an obstacle.
I've read the reviews for his Natural Woman cream and they are very good. It seems cheaper than mine although I don't know how many doses to compare. If it works for you I don't know if you would find any improvement by changing. I understood that it takes three months to raise levels so you might drop to a maintenance dose after that. One reviewer had a problem it seems.
I apply progesterone and DHEA cream right after I take my dessicated thyroid (no waiting). I have never had any issues doing it this way. Every person is different, of course, but since they are entering the body via different routes (internal/topical) I just don't see how absorption of Thyroid meds going through the digestive tract would be negatively affected. (I could see waiting if you were taking other hormones in pill form.) But, that is my opinion. Just wanted to say that I have had good luck without a waiting period between.
Thank you so much, I agree with you, and I have been applying the cream not long after taking my thyroxine, just suddenly had a thought that maybe I needed to wait. Best wishes to you too. 😊
