These are my latest bloods after changing from 75much of Levo to 100mcg. I’m not sure how to bring the last bloods up on here but my tsh seems to be in the right direction as do t3&t4. Still get the odd funny head and very tired still but Gp says vit D low so need to up that, on nothing at the moment but vit D needs to be doubled , I said I was on 800iu which she said double but instead I had bought 500iu but didn’t take any til results because they kept saying everything was fine.but b12 and ferritin etc are ok. What do you think. I hope this make sense.

Vitamin D is still low. Good your GP recognises this. Aiming to improve by self supplementing to at least 80nmol and around 100nmol may be better .

Once you Improve level, you may need on going maintenance dose to keep it there.

Retesting twice yearly via vitamindtest.org.uk

Vitamin D mouth spray by Better You is good as avoids poor gut function.

It's trial and error what dose each person needs.

B12 and folate on the low side. Supplementing a good quality daily vitamin B complex, one with folate in not folic acid may be beneficial.

B vitamins best taken in the morning after breakfast

Recommended brands on here are Igennus Super B complex. (Often only need one tablet per day, not two. Certainly only start with one tablet per day after breakfast. Retesting levels in 6-8 weeks ).

Or Jarrow B-right is popular choice, but is large capsule

If you are taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 7 days before any blood tests, as biotin can falsely affect test results

Thank you for that.

I queried the vit D level which was 52 (50-174) on 2nd April and she said it’s ok just within range then I had another test on 15 May and it was 56 without me taking anything but I said it’s still low but again was in range so do nothing, this next time I asked phlebotomists to add vit D to bloods and June 26th came back 53. Dr ask how much iron I was taking and I said as before I bought 800iu so told to double it when in fact I had mistakenly bought 500iu so should I take 4 tablets of these for time being. She also said B12 was fine and so was folate as range is >3 and I’m 6.2. I did say to her that I’d like to get my B12 to at least half way in the range 312 (180.00-999ng/L so I need to get some b12 myself I will look on amazon. How long after Levo do I take vitamins B12 and vit D is it 4 hrs?

Vitamin D - if taking tablets, they need to be at least four hours away from Levo and with a meal that contains fat to help absorption

Many of us use vitamin D mouth spray by Better You. This avoids poor gut function and perhaps only needs to be an hour away from taking Levothyroxine

NHS use to recognise vitamin D under 75nmol as needing supplementing. Budget cuts. Now they just advise self supplementing

Taking a good quality daily vitamin B complex will improve all B vitamins including B12 and folate

Brilliant, thank you. Dr hasn’t said about retesting so I’ll ask for appt in 6 weeks with phlebotomist.

You probably don't need a retest that soon

It will probably take 3-4 months to raise vitamin D

You can retest here

vitamindtest.org.uk

Or do full Thyroid and vitamin testing privately via Medichecks or Blue Horizon

Do you have autoimmune thyroid disease also called Hashimoto's diagnosed by high thyroid antibodies?

If not had TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested ask GP does so

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if Thyroid antibodies are raised

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and fasting. This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)

Last Levothyroxine dose should be 24 hours prior to test, (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).

Is this how you did this test?

Yes I take my Levo in morning between 6.30-7am when I feed dogs. Then I had bloods done early at 8am but left Levo off that morning until afterwards. Just a question what is the difference in vitamin d supplement hard coated and vitamin D3 which I have in a gelatin coating.

Gelatine coated is probably suspended in olive oil or similar

Ingredients bulking agent:olive oil

Capsule shell: Bovine gelatine

Humectant: Glycerol, purified water

Vit D3 cholecalciferol

One capsule contains: vit D3. 20ug

Another dr from my practice rang me today and said she had looked at my bloods and my tsh is too low. She wants me to do one day a week of 75mcg and the rest of the day’s carry on with 100mcg. I feel a lot better than I did on 75mcg and don’t want to mess things up. I think she wants me to be just in range of what the lab says and will do another blood test in 6 weeks. Will one day of 75mcg make much difference. What are your opinions, thanks. I’m using the spray vit D and K2 and taking vit B
