It's been a while I posted here...last blood test I took 1 year back since training in some other place was busy and continued with ELTROXIN 50 mcg till this time.... tat time tsh was 1.45 Yesterday again took blood test. Value of yesterdays blood test is :
THYROID STIMULATING HORMONE (TSH) C.M.I.A - > 3.16 ยตIU/ml, normal range (0.35 - 4.94)
FREE TRIIODOTHYRONINE (FT3) C.M.I.A - > 2.75 pg/ml, normal range (1.71 - 3.71
)
FREE THYROXINE (FT4) C.M.I.A - > 0.99 ng/dl, normal range (0.70 - 1.48)
Worried why tsh is 3.16 ๐
Actually after taking 59 mcg for some months tat time dr told to increase it to 75mcg but since I had severe heart Palpitations taking 75mcg dr told to again reduce it to 50 mcg so this 1 while yr i took only 50mcg now yesterday blood report is 3.16 tsh so pls advice what to do, how to reduce TSH? Should I increase to 75mcg??? Pls reply
Iโm no expert but you could do what I did and increase in tiny increments. I did 50/50/75 which equals 58.3 mcg daily for six weeks then I tested. If this doesnโt cause you palpitations and your blood test indicates a further increase would be beneficial, you could then increase to 50/75 alternate days, equalling 62.5 mcg. These small increases work well for me. It might be worth a try!
As far as I know you can eat all the usual foods including meat and cruciferous veg. I think cruciferous veg is ok when you are taking thyroid medication, just not to be eaten in excessive amounts.
Some people find it advantageous to go gluten free, especially if they have thyroid antibodies. I am one of them!
Soya is apparently not a good thing to eat with thyroid issues. Good nutrition is important along with appropriate supplements if your blood tests show a need for them.
Your TSH is that high because you are under-medicated, so you do need to increase your levo. Caroline888 has made a very good suggestion for increasing slowly. But, are your nutrients optimal? If you have nutritional deficiencies, you will find it hard to increase. So, ask to have your vit D, vit B12, folate and ferritin tested.
I'm curious about the title of your post. What is 'non veg'?
