I’ve been stable for 2 years on 3 grains per day Nature Throid but symptoms have been creeping back over the last couple of months and I have a suspicion it might be the quality of my recent batch of NT. (I order direct from RLC). I now see from the forum that others have the same issue.
I’m considering a trial of Thyroid S or Thiroyd
Has anyone switched from NT to either of these and can share how it went?
Also, can anyone private message me supplier details?
Thanks

I have been on Nature Throid for more than 5 years. The strength of each new batch does seem to ebb and flow - it’s a “glandular” right? Made out of pig thyroid primarily. While I have never switched between the medicines mentioned, I have had to adjust (on my own) the dose ever so slightly one way or the other. The first time I received some that was quite a bit stronger it was scary! The same thing happened however, with Synthroid years ago - and it’s not a glandular. Synthroid was famous (in the late 80’s early 90’s) for having inconsistent batches.
Selenium is vital for me in helping keep thyroid hormone leveled out. Nature Throid is one of the best supplements I have experienced in over 30 years of treating Hashimotos.
I have found little difference in brands, however there is a difference in forms of selenium. It’s 200 mcg of SeMSC (long name: L-Se-methylselenocysteine). But I have experienced benefits from all forms of selenium. This form has worked best. On this forum many speak about similar experiences with Hashimotos and selenium. There are many vitamins and minerals and enzymes that are super necessary to help in the conversion and metabolism - of which selenium is primary and central.
I changed from Eltroxin to Thiroyd & have been doing a whole lot better. I'm only taking 1.25 grains a day split over 2 doses morning & afternoon & finally don't have a permanent headache / brain fog. Best of luck
For me Thiroyd is weaker than NT but it works better. I was on 2,5 grain NT and now my Thiroyd dose is 3 grain. I did change about one month so still do not know if the dose has final.
I switched to Thiroyd after the reformulation of NT as my levels plummeted. I've found Thiroyd weaker but as it's so much cheaper, the fact that I have to take more isn't a problem. I was on 4 grains of NT and am currently on 5 1/2 grains Thiroyd and feeling almost back to normal.
