Tweet from Pete Taylor

“Are any UK patients on long acting T3 from German compounding company Receptura. If you are and would be interested in having FT3 profiles done in Cardiff myself and Prof Dayan would love to hear from u (DM me) one of our patients has an impressive 6 hour profile @britishthyroid”

Further tweet

Colin and I had a theory long acting T3 has less TSH suppression. Short acting t3 trials not conclusive, the next trial has to be long acting. Our patient was paying 80 euros for 4 months ... and profile looked good we wanted to see if others were on it to look at their profiles

Maybe we should alert diogenes for comment - he's probably having a quiet weekend !

Thanks for posting here.

We have seen mention of it a few times but I can't remember anyone saying they use it. Mind, I might well not remember even if they had said so. :-)

A search has found some people who have mentioned it, or been mentioned in connection with it: lynnimp galathea coneflower

I’m taking SR Liothyronine by Receptura.

Fascinating, I had no idea it was available in the UK. Or are you self sourcing? It would be so interesting to hear how you are getting on with it.

I’m not self sourcing, I get it from a private doctor who was on the list supplied. It has given me my life back as Levo alone was making me feel really ill and ‘regular’ T3 was too strong a hit with me. Took a while though and I take a combo to T4/T3.

So pleased it's working for you. I know just what you mean about regular T3 hitting you. I've always felt like that too and it's so hard to split those tiny pills into tiny amounts. Slow release makes so much sense. Thanks for sharing!

Would like to learn more about this. Is there a link to the research?

Hate saying this but, if you are on twitter, or willing to join, maybe it would be a good idea to ask Pete directly?

Hidden - do you have a link to this tweet?

Kenneth Blanchard medicate his patients with compounded T3. His method was Levo plus very little T3.

I had never heard of the German one before, thank you.

NDT is OK but the ratio is all wrong for humans I believe it would be good to feel well without a thyroid but I do not think that it's possible.

I’m on SR T3 from Receptura too. My TSH is quite high considering the amount of T4 and T3 I’m on, so your comment about reduced suppression is accurate for me. I don’t take too much notice of numbers these days!

Dr Pete Taylor is not on this forum so he will not see your comment/reply.

It was Hidden who posted Pete's tweet here.

He is on Twitter - twitter.com/DrPeteTaylor so I suggest you contact him there. (I am not signed up to Twitter but expect that you have you be signed up in order to tweet.)

My TSH is quite high on this too, interesting to see it’s not just me.

I get the impression we are supposed to have heard of Dr Pete Taylor. No offence intended to the man himself, but I've never heard of him! Is he famous?

Well, he has been mentioned on this forum once or twice - sometimes directly, sometimes just as an author name on a paper:

Judging by the iodine-in-malt-whisky-a-preliminary-analysis he at least has a sense of humour.

Thanks very much for the list of posts. I rarely notice authors of papers to be honest, unless they get mentioned as part of the threads they are discussed in.

Why would you? All too easy to read the main point and walk past the authors.

Dr Peter Taylor is a member of the Thyroid Research Group at Cardiff University, and his contribution concerning rising cost of T3 v amount of T3 prescriptions was included in the dossier requested by NHSE and the Lords , published November 2018:

"analysed NHS England open prescribing data and identified widespread variation in L-T3 prescriptions per 1000 L-T4 prescriptions by CCG - revealing almost a 50 fold variation between CCGs.

Graphs in figure 2 and 3 show changes in median L-T3 prescribing over time - and how it relates to total cost of L-T3 each month. As price rises, L-T3 prescriptions fall.

Figure 3 shows how less L-T3 is given in CCGs where there are greater levels of deprivation and is a powerful illustration of significant health inequality for thyroid patients in poorer areas."

Hi I took the normal acting t3 from receptura not the slow release apparently they do two. T3 only should be fast into cells.

When you see a user name of Hidden, it means that the person is no longer a member of this forum.

We often close posts that were originated by people who have left - there is no point in wasting our time making replies. Occasionally, the thread might still be active and popular and will be left. More often, it is simply a case of none of the admins noticing!

I shall NOT be closing this post to replies as the issues are still live and of interest.

Please be aware that the original poster is no longer a member so any replies to the original poster are very likely to be missed by everyone.
