I have increased my t3 from 10 to 15...it's only been two days since I'm on this dose...when shall I see the changes of the increased dose? When can I increase again if this dose is not right?
thanks a lot x

Agnes79 I'm confused. In this post three days ago, you said
"I have been taking levothyroxine 100 and 15t3 for 2 months now"
healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...
and now you're saying you only increased to 15T3 two days ago???
I'm sorry...I meant I increased to 20 t3 two days ago. Sorry for the confusion
I increased from 15 to 20 t3
Slow and gradual is the way to go with T3, weeks rather than days between increases. Is your T3 prescribed - as you mention 10/15/20 I'm thinking this is not self sourced as those are 25mcg tablets and you wouldn't be able to divide them to give those doses. If prescribed what does your doctor say?
Your previous posts shows iron and ferritin to be extremely low, your b12 to be nowhere near optimal and D3 is also deficient. They also show that your thyroid results aren't bad, they're in a better place than your vitamins and minerals.
You've had advice already about these vitamin and mineral results. Ferritin needs to be at least 70 for thyroid hormone to work, preferably half way through range. All these need to be optimal and you should work on this first before adjusting your thyroid meds at the moment. Your iron/ferritin is a big problem and a major cause of fatigue, low Vit D causes aches and pains.
Maybe retest your vits and mins now if those results are a couple of months old and see what your levels are like now. Ferritin can take months to increase.
thank you! I am working on my ferritin...taking ferrous fumerate 210 three times a day and vit d 4000 per day.
my t3 is Prescribed and I can get 15 and 20 t3....so decided to increase and see how it goes
I will continue supplementing the vit and min and retest next month as I have to do it privately and it costs a fortune😒
I haven't read all your previous threads and all the replies, so just in case it's not already been mentioned these are the levels you should aim for:
B12 - very top of range, even 900-1000. You should be supplementing with Solgar or Jarrows sublingual methylcobalamin lozenges plus a B Complex that contains methylfolate such as Thorne Basic B or Jarrows B Right. Take in the morning as they're stimulating.
Vit D - aim for 100-150. With your D3 you need to take K2-MK7. Vit D aids absorption of calcium from food and K2 directs it to bones and teeth rather than arteries and soft tissues. Take with fat, ie fattiest meal of the day, as they need fat to be absorbed. Magnesium is also needed when supplementing with D3. Take in the evening as it's calming.
Iron supplements - each tablet should be taken with 1000mg Vit C to aid absorption and help prevent constipation. Take 4 hours away from thyroid meds and other supplements.
As your iron is very low as well as your ferritin, personally I would be asking your GP for advice as there may be something else going on. A full iron panel could be done, check for anaemia, etc.
You could also supplement with selenium - L-selenomethionine 200mcg daily, as this aids conversion of T4 to T3.
thank you for your thorough reply😊 I have already taken notes to follow.
as for my iron...it has always been low...i have been on 3 months iron supplementation each year for the Last 10 years! Had endoskopy done which came back fine.....and My hemoglobin is always fine...I have never been classified as anemic even though my irron and ferritin have always been at the bottom.of the range.....doctors don't know why I have problems absorbing iron 😒
thanks! It's so sad that they just don't want us to feel better!😒 will i see any change by increasing from 15 to 20 t3?
I have been on t3 only for over 4 months now and feel great. I started slow as recommended and now take 68.75 mcg daily. I think that may be it. It is recommended that you increase slowly a week apart and you should be guided by taking your vitals. You should read 'recovering with T3' and 'The CT3M Handbook' both my Paul Robinson. They are invaluable. He does stress that you need to resolve other vitamin and mineral deficiencies first, as well as adrenal issues, otherwise t3 won't be as effective. There is a recovering with t3 Facebook group too that you can join. Paul Robinson runs it and he and his admin staff can answer queries and guide you. No one knows so much about using t3 as Paul does. Good luck.
thank you so much! Were you on levo before switching to t3?
Hi Agnes, yes, I had been on 100mcg of levothyroxine for over 18 years. It had helped a little at first, but I never felt completely well. I had complained many times over the years but my GP always said my thyroid results were 'normal.' But we all know what that means! I didn't know about t3 until I joined the thyroid forum and that was a real eye opener. I did a lot of research first and took it to my GP, who if course didn't know about t3, or its importance. My endocrinologist was against it too and said I need to stay on t4. I wanted to feel better so took the risk of trying t3, using the books to inform me. I've not regretted it.
Why should I reduce? I have been slowly increasing the dose, using my vital signs, to the point that they are now improved, and I feel great. Some people are on more than me, the average is between 50-70, and some people, more really though, have found that they only feel well on 200, or even 300mcg daily. The point is we are all different, and what suits one may not work for another. I only know what works for me.
Should read more 'rarely'
