QR Code For Dr Pete Taylor's Petition

This is a QR code of the link to the petition: petition.parliament.uk/peti...

Although the image I have posted is quite large, if you print it, you can probably make it much smaller and it will still work. You might just need to have the camera closer to the QR code.

For many of us, pointing our mobile phone camera at a QR code is an easy way of using web link.

Feel free to copy this code and paste it into any flyer or poster you might produce. Or add to any web pages you produce. And always print the actual link beside the QR code so everyone can see where it is supposed to take them.

It occurred to me that a potentially useful way to get wider support for the petition would be to engage the help of a ‘celebrity’ with a known thyroid condition……Davina MCall springs to mind, plus she has a track record of putting her head above the parapet in support of a cause (menopause).

Does anyone have access to her on social media? She must have 1000s of followers with whom she could share the petition…..

I'm always wary of putting anyone on the spot.

She has every right to choose not to be involved. (It's not as if she doesn't put a lot into other things!) And we have absolutely zero right to judge her decision. Aside from anything else, we won't know the background to her decision.

Unless there is already an appropriate public post to reply to, or reference, it seems better to try private messages (whatever they are called from platform to platform).

She does exist on some social media, for example:

I think all those, and more, are in my list of famous people with thyroid issues in my vade mecum:

helvella's Vade Mecum document is available here:

helvella - Vade Mecum for Thyroid

The term vade mecum means:

1. A referential book such as a handbook or manual.

2. A useful object, constantly carried on one’s person.

AND! Anyone can let me know of others to add. Just reply or send me a Private Message.

I'm not sure Davina is a good choice of 'celeb'. She appears to be one of the many who are just fine on levothyroxine. We ideally need someone who understands what it's like to be one of the '10-15% of patients despite levothyroxine treatment have persistent ill health,'

With respect, how is it possible to determine who is floundering on Levothyroxine? Davina has in excess of 2 million followers on X so surely any support is good support?

And, from what I understand, the petition isn’t solely for research into (for the sake of argument) conversion issues, rather, thyroid conditions in general.

Or am I missing something?

Sorry, my mistake, I misinterpreted your comment (trying to keep an eye on the forum in between other chores). I thought you were suggesting, as has been done many times over the years here, that Davina takes up the thyroid cause in the same way she has other causes. Menopause being her most recent and famous cause.

If Davina supports by signing and tweeting, then that would be great, of course. I believe others have also tweeted her about this petition, so let's hope she takes action and retweets.😊

Thanks. Davina does have a thyroid disorder, she takes Levothyroxine. I’ve shared the petition on her X account (I dredged up an ancient log-in) so she can react or ignore. Thanks for the list of known thyroid disorder sufferers, I’ll have a look later. 👍

I'm sorry, I have never used Instagram. Nor do I use facebook.

lynmynott have you put the poll up on the other Thyroid UK internet presence (i.e. other than this forum)?

I can't see it on the Thyroid UK website either mrskiki

And as you imply, it really should be prominent on all their web presences.

You could contact Thyroid UK directly via their form to ask your question thyroiduk.org/contact-form/
