Hi
If anyone who's ready to start tackling their weight issues (once their thyroid meds are optimum) you may want to consider Dr Mark Hyman's 10 Day Detox Diet. Loads of information online, including recipes.
It's essentially healthy eating for 10 days, cutting out carbs and starchy vegetables, alcohol, caffeine. Fruit/Seeds/almond milk shake in the morning (it is filling) and protein/salad/vegetable for main meals.
I felt awful between days 2-4 due to reducing coffee/sugar intake but if you can ride that through, you really do come out the other side feeling better. I had thought that I wouldn't be able to lose weight due to being hypothyroid. But, I have. I've lost 9lbs in 10 days and feel really well. The diet recommends 30 mins of exercise each of the 10 days, which I couldn't fit in apart from one swim/bike ride.
I'm staying on it for another 10 days to shift some more weight.
I'm on NDT. Had some tiredness, which may have been due to Low Vit D at last check, but have been supplementing. My thyroid numbers are pretty good right now but it took a while to get to that point.
Really recommend Dr Hyman's book - 10 Day Detox diet. It's quite old, so it may have been mentioned before.
Just thought I'd share, as it's so miserable piling on weight while dealing with everything else that comes with being hypothyroid.
