PRIVATE ENDO LONDON/KENT PLEASE

HI All

I posted this on here 2 weeks ago

**************************************************

I took a short 12 week course of statins ending in April 17

I stopped because of muscle stiffness

However, despite stopping 2 years ago, the stiffness has progressed

I have had lots of tests, but no answers provided

However, the specialist did say that he was sure the statins caused the problem but something else is responsible for making it continue. But what, he could not say.

SO I wondered if my thyroid function may be responsible for the continuing stiffness?

So, here are my medichecks thyroid figures (all within range) but I would still welcome any feedback

TSH 3.71 (0.27 - 4.2)

Free T3 4.97 (3.1 - 6.8)

FT4 14.2 (9 - 25)

Thyroglobulin antibody 105.000 <115

Thyroid peroxidone antibody 19.3 (<34)

Serum parathyroid hormone 21 (12 - 88)

Thank you

I received many replies and was very grateful for that! Thank you!

What did surprise me though was that 6 people said the same thing

That , though within range, I was having muscle problems because I was hypothyroid and my TSH was too high for a healthy person

And should be under 2

And my FT4 should be in the upper half of the range

Which completely surprised me and got me wondering if I should see an endo privately?

As many have posted that GP’s will not treat if the numbers are within range

So, can anybody recommend an endo who “ listens to the patient’s problems “and treats accordingly?

Thank you all

Hello Alpsholiday

You may find you will get more replies if you post before 8.30pm. Most contributors retire around 9pm from what I’ve seen. And then this post will get lost when our early birds post. I’d try reposting at 9am U.K. time.

I have been seeing a private Endocrinologist in London for the past year who prescribed me T3 (private prescription) after my first blood tests and I’ve felt so much better ever since, in fact it changed my life. He is the only Dr who really understood how I was feeling I can’t recommend him highly enough. If you want to send me a private message I will pass you his details.

The endo I see is Dr Jenkins at The London Endocrine Centre, Harley Street. His assistant is Suzanne 02073232755. I asked them if it was okay for me to share his details. Good luck

in reply to Sandrajfc

Thank you Sandrajfc

I shall contact Dr Jenkins

Would you say that he would listen to the patient’s problems first and foremost, instead of just looking at the blood tests?

As I have said, my TSH is high normal which 6 people have pointed out makes me hypothyroid

Can I ask if your bloods were in normal ranges as well?

Thank you

He definitely listens and understood the ‘unwell’ feeling that I had but couldn’t really explain why. He examined me and asked lots of questions before I had bloods done. My Gp kept telling me everything was in normal range but Dr Jenkins had a very different view especially as I had reverse T3 and various other results were out of range. I now see him every 6 months, it is expensive but definitely worth it. I wish you good luck.

Hi,

I have just joined this group. My private endo will not prescribe anything other than t3. I’m looking for a progressive endo who is happy to prescribe NDT and T3. Does your endo fit that bill and if so please could I have their details. Thankyou

Great pity you didn't do the vitamin testing as well. Low vitamin levels can be significant

You need to retest vitamin D and B12 and test folate and ferritin

Low iron/ferritin is extremely common in vegan diet. All plant based iron sources are non-heme and more difficult to absorb

whfoods.org/genpage.php?tna...

Obviously low B12 likely be an issue too on vegan diet. Do you regularly supplement a good quality daily vitamin B complex with good levels of B12

Did you get iodine levels tested

in reply to SlowDragon

Thank you slow dragon

Yes I have had b12, ferritin, d and folate tested

I’m waiting for my iodine results

Btw how do you PM someone on this forum please?

Thank you

Well not being in a position to be able to go private really annoys me especially when I am so ill like many other people who would not only love to get the right treatment but would love to feel well enough to have a holiday. Some people don't realise how lucky they are x

I’m sorry you feel so unwell and disenfranchised, but imo there’s just no need for this sort of comment.
