Don't be scared. If something may be not quite right it's better to get it sorted. I've had an FNA and the worst thing was having to keep still! Just a small prick as the needle goes in but because the fluid is more syrupy for want of a better word it has to be drawn out slowly. Doesn't take long but it feels longer. Then I had to press on it for a while but everything was fine.
Nodules can be cancer or benign and usually if benign they are left. Cancer they may decide best to take out that side of your thyroid gland and you may well have to go on medication. Cancer is usually contained if that is the outcome so probably no further treatment needed other than taking it out. I've not had that outcome but I'm told the operation , if needed, is not a problem.
Hi can’t give you advice however I have just had a large module removed surgically.I am waiting for results but keeping everything crossed. I was frightened about the operation but I am pleasantly surprised how I am recovering. Also the scar is healing nicely and not as bad as I thought it would be. My mother had the same op years ago and her scar was far worse! Presume this is the advances we have made in surgery/medicine. Keep in touch. Keep strong x
