I was told yesterday that i have an overactive thyroid after been ill for months i am 28 i am also diabetic my doctors has put be on bisoprolol to help symptoms because am diabetic and beacuse not on any contraception apart from comdons i have to go to hospital not sure what contraception i am on has amything the Gp didnt really tell me much got hospital 3rd oct i have done some looking into it my self and got me self a bit scared weight loss i have ready lost 2 stone and read you loss your hair that has me freaked out and heart problems really all over with worry

When you go to the hospital you will see a person who is more of an expert on your problem compared to your gp.
So wait until you see them and things might become more clear for you. You might not have a permanent problem it might only temporary, you just need to wait and see.
Anxiety and worry are also symptoms of hyperthyroidism. Tell yourself this often. I was hyperthyroid so know what it is like. Even if there was nothing to worry about a hyper person would find something to be anxious about. Deep breaths and take each moment as it comes. I found that it helped to have a quiet space where I could just be for a while. Also I played music through headphones a lot to keep me calm. If I woke in the night and my brain was busy I would put on earplug of my I pod in lie on my side and drift off again that way. Hugs.
Thank you for advise am trying to keep busy i over think when am on my own just really worry that will not be able to have another baby the doctor seem very concerned that wasnt on any contraception made me think why she was concerned so then a made the mistake of googling it and some awful information came up ano am thinking to fair ahead really carnt help it then hair loss thing is freaking me out ano that sounds really vain loads of problem with my eyes it really worrys me thank you so much for your advise really greatful you took time to comment
Peppy The doctor may have asked about contraception because she wouldn't want you getting pregnant at the moment. Also contraceptive hormones might have an effect on any medication she was considering so that might be another reason. Anxiety, overthinking and panic attacks were a big part of my hyper so what you are going through is part of the condition. Keep telling yourself this and try not to over think the situation. I did not lose my hair though lots seem to come out. You will be OK.
Wow, I can feel the anxiety in the way you write! I know it’s hard but be kind to yourself; the anxiety is a symptom of an overactive thyroid. You’ve been diagnosed, so you are on the path to getting better. Try to take time to breathe, try to separate your symptoms from your true ‘you’. It’ll be ok. X

Have you been checked for Graves disease? That is the number one cause of Hyperthyroidism. I have had it since 2017. They will probably start you on meds to bring your T4 and T3 into range. They may offer Radioactive Iodine treatment or Thyroid removal as other choices depending on what is the root cause. Don't worry. I was a mess back then...racing heart..weight loss on and on..Meds brought my numbers to normalized and I feel a whole lot better.
And yeah when i have been looking into overactive thyroid graves keeps poping up i most of not all the symptoms .. sorry about your diagnosis glad you are doing a lot better ... i went to doctors due to panick attacked the last one a had my dangerously high heart rate was tacky cardiac found out yesterday that i have overactive thyroid brain doing over time for you for commenting
Fast heart rate is classic Hyperthyroidism. Caused by too much thyroid hormone which affects the heart. Weight loss too. Anxiety..Have you seen an endocrine doctor? Cause that's who you should be seeing..
Yes seeing an endocrinologist on the 3rd of oct and yes my heart rate was all most double ended up going to hospitals by ambulance they told me it was a panick attack they told me it was tachycardia i had to have ECG Twice A day for 3 days heart wasnt no were near as bad as it was that day but was still high. before hospital i was ill wicth a thought was a bug been vomiting all day i vomited blood when a saw blood i panicked
I think the first thing you should do is ask your doctor for a print-out of your results, so that you know exactly what you are dealing with 'over-active thyroid' is rather a vague term. It doesn't tell you much. So, you need to know exactly what they're basing that on. If you post the results on here, with the ranges, people will be able to explain what they mean.
Hi thanks for commenting can i just ask GP for them they will give Me them ? She never told me much really just that will need an urgent appointment endocrinologist she could only give me bisoprolol to help with symptoms she didnt want to give me anything els beacuse i am diabetic
I wouldn't ask the GP for them, if I were you, just ask the receptionist. She's obliged to give them to you under the law.
She probably didn't tell you much because she doesn't know much. But, she would just say that. But, it's good she isn't giving you anything except a beta blocker until your diagnosis is confirmed.
Well today i had a phone call form the endocrinologist they told me they didnt wanna wait till the 3rd oct to start me meds they have gave carbimazole aswell as the bisoprolol said it shouldnt effect my diabetes.the last 2days my symptom or getting worse uncountable shaking feel mega drained 😞
