I had high inflammatory markers in my blood when tested March 28th I have dropped my thyroxine by 25mg to 125 at the request of my doctor but I feel terrible I was at the gym every morning before this now I can’t walk. The new blood tests today were because of the inflammation but my serum ferritin was 84ug/l

Erythrocyte sedimentation rate 17 1-19mm/hour

Serum TSH level 0.5 my/L 0.30 - 4.50

Serum free T4 30.3 pmol/ L 10-22

Serum T3 6.5 3.10-6.80

There is way more info on here, is there a way to upload photos?

Anyway I had my blood done again today but not thyroid, I have to wait for a new appointment until May 8th. I have never seen endo. Do I need to ask. All I know is that despite the high T4 I felt great 3 weeks ago and now I feel like a cripple:(

Any advice would be great

I’m off on holiday to Spain on Tuesday and I just don’t feel like it at all.

Thank you

Put your dose back to where you felt well. They shouldn't adjust dose according to the TSH (as they've been told) because it can bring bakc or give us new symptoms.

thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/thyroi...

If you want to stay well you have to go by your instinct and it is awful when you've got sympotoms returning. Just tell GP if he has reduced your dose that you want to go back to your previous one. Otherwise you may have to buy your own levo so that you will be symptom-free.

They are so poorly trained it is unbelievable and they have no idea how patients can suffer with symptoms and trying to cope with day-to-day activities. This is an excerp from link below:

If you have thyroid gland failure--primary hypothyroidism--your doctor is giving you a dose oflevothyroxine that normalizes your thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) level. Abundant research shows that this practice usually does not restore euthyroidism--sufficient T3 effect in all tissues of the body. It fails particularly badly in persons who have

had their thyroid gland removed. TSH is not a thyroid hormone and is not an appropriate guide to thyroid replacement therapy.

The hypothalamic-pituitary secretion of TSH did not evolve to tell physicians what dose of inactive levothyroxine a person should swallow every day. A low or suppressed TSH on replacement therapy is not the same thing as a low TSH in primary hyperthyroidism. IF you continue to suffer from the symptoms of hypothyroidism, you have the right to demand that your physician give you more effective T4/T3 (inactive/active) thyroid replacement therapy. Your physician can either add sufficient T3 (10 to 20mcgs) to your T4 dose, or lower your T4 dose while adding the T3. The most convenient form of T4/T3 therapy,

with a 4:1 ratio, is natural desiccated thyroid (NDT-- Armour, NP Thyroid, Nature-Throid).

Hey Shaws thank you so much for your reply. It’s insane that when I was at the doctors telling them that I was feeling pretty good they lowered my dose. It’s so depressing it’s like ‘oh you’re feeling ok but I don’t like the look of this blood analysis, better do something. :(

I don’t know how much you know but you seem to be pretty on the ball. It’s fine if you can’t help me but I have one question that’s bugging me. Is there any way that these high inflammatory markers could be caused by ‘to much thyroxine’?

I really really appreciate you taking the time to answer me, having a pretty bad day can’t even walk upstairs never mind go to the gym.

Thanks again

I am not medically qualified and only quote what I've read plus geting info from other members on my journey to good health.

Re high inflammatory markets others more knowledgeable than myself will respond when they read your post.

There is a way to upload your information but I've not done so myself so will have a look for instructions or another member may be along to tell you how to do so.

Hi I have had an underactive thyroid for many years and was put on Levothyroxine which is t4 only, I do not believe the Blood test works in many cases as mostly it is because your T4 levo does not convert into T3. My body temperature was between 34. 01 sometimes going up to 35 .5, this is because your levo T4 is not converting into T3, I went on Nature Thyroid witch contains T4 and T3 3 grains ( You gradually increase your grains by before getting out of bed every morning put a thermostat under your arm and write down a graph everyday and increase your Armour etc until your body thermos reads 37 or just under 36 . something as long as it does not say 35 or 34 that means your body is struggling , and if you think about it that is doing greater harm to your body ( NHS will not give T3 but you can get it if it is prescribed by a consultant endocrinologist) Also you will find you must look up vitamins and minerals and iodine as they are so depleted in our food today. I went back on Levothyroxine T4 only and my body temperature has dipped to between 34 and 35 and boy do I feel it. hope this help !! the NHS will not prescribe T3 and they refuse to do proper studies !!! Thyroid UK in one of their campaigns are still fighting this! I do hope this helps Paul.

Hi Paul thanks I will try this is really funny you should mention temp as I have been suffering and sometimes I get so cold that I actually sit with hot water bottles. I’m having a horrible week and I only dropped my dosage 20 days ago. I’m cold my knees ache I have pins and needles , more like static electricity really. I will try what you suggest when I come back from Spain. The sunshine might do me good :)
