Hello.
I've just picked up my rx for Levothyroxine from a new pharmacy. I have been happy on Wockhardt - with an addition of T3 obtained from my old doctor in the US. The packaging looked different from what I expected, and I looked before leaving the pharmacy to see to be sure it wasn't Teva (I've not done well with that formulation) - but didn't notice until getting home that Almus contains lactose. I have been dairy-free for nearly 10 years after discovering intolerances to all the proteins in milk - including lactose. I'm not sure what to do - as they gave me three months' supply and I understand from other posts here that the pharmacy can't take it back. I have struggled to find a sympathetic gp since moving to the UK two years ago, and my solution has been to obtain T3 in the US, and use the T4 I get from the online gpathand system from the NHS. I get regular blood tests from medichecks and so far that has worked.
Any idea how long it would take for me to know if the lactose in the rx bothers me? Is my best bet to go back to the online gp and ask for a lactose free formulation? Can they specify?
Thanks for any advice. I've learned a lot from reading this forum!
