I've just been diagnosed as hypothyroid and am about to start treatment. I am lactose intolerant and have now realised that previous reactions to medication were probably down to lactose. I see there are a couple of lacto-free Levo brands mentioned on tuk website. Can anyone recommend one and how does your GP/pharmacy get hold of it?

Kayaktime, your GP will need to specify lactose-free on the script and the pharmacy will need to have an account with IDIS. thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/treatm...
The oral form is lactose free, but expensive, but if you are diagnosed lactose intolerant I would think your G.P would prescribe it.
Most synthetic thyroxine's are lactose free, they use maize as a bulking agent rather than lactose powder.
