Naturethroid, WP and Acella

Hiya

I've been on naturethroid for years, and finally found some stability but been having problems recently with falling TFTs, weight gain, hair loss, too much adrenaline, high histamine despite my dose remaining the same. Took me a while to realise that lots of other people were having issues with it too.

Complicating factor for me is I have iron problems and a gynae issue which means I've been battling keeping my iron optimal for ages as well, and somewhat muddied the water, I thought the symptoms I were having were iron related, but this time around on this latest batch of NT things have been much much worse than anything I've ever experienced before (I could NOT sleep for starters!).

Anyway, I'm pretty certain my current issues were caused by naturethroid, so I've just switched, from extensive reading to NP by Acella. I was on NP for a couple of months a while back during the NT shortage and I dont' recall having any problems with it then, and I'm happy to report the histamine and adrenaline issues have stopped as soon as I stopped taking NT and started taking NP, but this time I feel utterly exhausted, my eyelids are swollen, my digestion has slowed down, and I feel foggy, and generally all over the place.

I just wondered if anyone else was having issues with naturethroid, what you've switched to, how you're getting on and how you're finding NP? Also does anyone know if the supposed issues with RLC labs is also affecting WP thyroid, or are people remaining OK on that?

Cheers.

Hi there Girlscout2, I am in a similar position as you as I am not sure sure what to change to from Nature-thyroid. I have been on them for a while but as I am running out and it’s difficult to get and I appear to be having some Adrenalin problems - I want to try something new but your message about NP is so worrying I hope you can resolve it.

Thanks don't panic, I'm thinking I've overshot on the dose and maybe it's too high, also I have iron issues remember. But yes the adrenaline problem has stopped immediately as I came off NT so that's a blessing. I know I hate this instability, I have no thyroid, it's taken me years to claw some stability back and here we go again! I'm going to blood test in about ten days and see what's what.

Hi Girlscout2 I have been on WP Thyroid for 8 weeks now. After 2 weeks, I got cold feet and had a blood test. My TSH, FT4 and FT3 were the best they have ever been, although I was feeling a bit wobbly at the time. As I was still awaiting the Levothyroxine to abate, I knew these levels were not really true, so I am about to have more extensive bloods done (BH Plus V, plus FT3). All this time I have been monitoring my temperature and BP and Pulse. All have improved. Also my Blood glucose has improved slightly (I was just pre-diabetic before and now appear to be back in range). If it wasn't for the fact that the change to generic Levothyroxine in 2010 has completely ruined my body, I would not have tried NDT in desperation. So glad I did try it and hopefully my next lot of bloods will be good. Have recently been diagnosed with Pernicious Anaemia, after having been on Wockhardt alone for about three months and prior to that Wockhardt and 6.25 mcg T3. Think the PA has been coming since last summer.

Oh bless you, do you inject B12? I do. And that's interesting, I'm just wondering if WP has been reformulated like naturethroid. I've figured out my issue, I'm HYPER, I've overshot on the dose, I think NP is much more potent and I've been sliding for a while on NT. Hoping I'm now stabilising and will be able to see the wood for the trees. Thanks.

I have finished the loading dose of six B12 injections at Gp surgery a couple of weeks ago, but 2.5 weeks later I am feeling symptoms returning, so have a phone call for tomorrow with GP to ask for more. In the meantime, I have ordered some from Germany, to be ready for self-administration. I am okay doing BG testing and have given my son IM injections for growth hormone and testosterone in the past, so know what to do. Just haven't done it to myself! Guess I'll manage it if I have to. By chance an advert popped into my inbox the other day for B12 shots privately in UK and Spain. But at £39 that is too much for all but occasional use.

I could not take Nature Throid, but wp seems fine. Don't know whether the NT was the one that had been changed or not though. I still have some left, but reluctant to try again. Do hope you manage to stabilise again soon.

Thanks yes I self inject, my German endo said one a day for a week, one a week for three months, one a month for a year and one every three months for the rest of your life. I buy it in Greece and bring it back, but have bought it from Germany also. And it's good to know WP might be unaffected as that gives me another option if NP doesn't work out. Good luck!
