Yes, I've been taking it for a while and seems to be doing the job!

Thank you. We’re you on levothyroxine before?

Yes, I took levo for a year, got up to 125mcg but was still symptomatic and gp wouldn't increase my dose. I started taking nature throid and worked my way up until I had no symptoms and felt great but then there was a change in formulation and my levels plummeted. So I switched to thiroyd last year and my levels are on their way back up, not quite there yet but going in the right direction x

What do you mean by symptomatic? I've been on levothyroxine for approximately one year and I have symptoms of too much thyroid medicine in my bloodstream but the numbers don't say that my last one was six. My doctor tells me 1 through 5 is considered good. When I first started my number was 13. If I don't take it for a day once every week or two I feel much better that one day. I don't feel anxiety as bad. Don't hold my shoulders and enter to higher than they need to be and I don't worry or question myself as much. Anyone have any similar experiences? What is thiroid? sp? ?

When I came off levothyroxine my brain fog disappeared immediately. I had lingering symptoms with levothyroxine that included brain fog, aching leg muscles, long recovery time after exercise, napping in the day etc.. They were all milder than when I was first diagnosed but ndt got rid of them all. Thiroyd is a brand of Thai NDT.

I tired it about five years ago and it was okay.

Yes, I have tried both Thiroyd and Thyroid-S and found Thiroyd OK but Thyroid-S a little stronger so have been on it since 2014. But many people are doing fine on Thiroyd so it's really about trial and error.

Thanks for responding. What do you feel are the main differences between NDT and levothyroxine?

in reply to Manjiajk

Thyroxine never worked optimally for me. I kept gaining weight during the ten years I spent on it (I ended up taking as much as 200 mcg/day), I was constantly tired and bloated. I later found out that many people with Hashimoto's have impaired T4 to T3 conversion (it seems the inflammation interferes with conversion) and therefore feel better when they add some T3. I definitely did. I now believe that my body was not able to actually convert enough of all that T4 to T3, keeping me hypothyroid even though my FT4 levels were high in range (no doctor ever tested my FT3 levels back then).

I know most doctors aren’t willing to prescribe T3 though. How did you manage to get T3?

in reply to Manjiajk

I started out taking Armour, then Erfa, which were prescribed by a so called Hertoghe doctor in Belgium. However, they are terribly expensive (1600-2000€/year depending on dosage). I then read about Thai NDT working great at a fraction of the cost, so decided to try it. It's ordered online and does not require a prescription. Most sellers are located in Thailand but I managed to find one shipping from Europe. 1000 pills of Thyroid-S cost ca 100 USD which is more or less what I pay for 100 pills of Armour...meaning I now spend 1/10 of what I did on prescription NDT, but with the same (or even better) results.

I think I’m going to give it a go. My water retention seems to be worse on levothyroxine than before taking it.

Well for me Levo made me sicker and sicker and NDT bounced me back to life.. here's a video if it's still up.. it's rather good.

There's a lot of evidence... basically if you're in the uk and your doctor prescribes you Levo you get it for free, so if it works for you that's great, but if it doesn't... NDT probably will.

I have been taking Thyroid-S for over a year now. Feel much better than I did on Levo. I got to a point where I couldn't increase the dosage any more without feeling bad, I think due to poor conversion. NDT has made me feel normal.

Do you have Hashimotos?

Yes, I have Hashimoto's.

So, there’s hope! Levothyroxine really doesn’t seem to be doing me any favours either.
