NDT ...symptoms help

Hi everyone

It could be nothing but I find around late afternoon I start feeling very cold and tired. I take my NDT in the morning and I’m wondering if this could be my hormone levels dropping off. I feel fine, almost quite hot and energised throughout the day then crash and feel cold late afternoon.

Could this be my medication?

Would appreciate any advice

I think most people who take NDT split their dose. Have you tried this? It might do away with your afternoon slump.

I haven’t, do you mean taking half the dose in the morning (fasting obviously) then the other half before bed?

Yes, take half in the morning, second half when you feel it might suit you best. Maybe in the afternoon, experiment with times to see what's good for you.

Thank you. I have to admit I am a coffee drinker, I’m concerned it’s affecting the absorption of the NDT, I do try and leave it 1 hour after taking it before having coffee

Coffee (and caffeine containing drinks - tea, cola, etc) will affect absorption of thyroid meds. I would leave at least an hour between your NDT and coffee.

I always leave 1 hour but it’s literally an hour to the absolute second..!

Hidden Is this reply on the correct thread? There's nothing to suggest the OP has Hashi's. Previous post shows TG antibodies <10 (<115) and TPO 10.7 (<34) and she takes NDT.

I do not have Hashimotos at all....my antibodies are very low it’s central hypothyroidism that I have. I’m not sure why that reply is there x

I split my dose 1.5 grains at 6am and the other at around 2.pm however I still feel tired early evening even though my dose is the correct one for me.
