I have an appointment with the Endocrinologist at 2pm today and I wondered if some one could advice me whether these levels are ok (done in Feb 19)? I did have TSH and FT4 (but not T3) redone last week but haven’t picked up the results yet. I’m on 25mg of Levo and still symptomatic. The GP has refused to increase because my TSH has been coming down. Hence the Endo appt. I changed brands from Teva to Mercury Pharma at the beginning of January which seemed to help somewhat. Many Thanks

25mcg is starting dose. Your tsh should come down to 1 or less so I’d say you need increasing to 50, test 6-8 wks later to see if you need another increase. They should be aware of nice guidelines.
Print symptoms so you can hand to endo. Think their listening skills are non existent and give them time to read them. So “here’s a list of symptoms I’ll give you a minute to absorb so you can understand the negative impact on quality of life they are causing”
Thank you Hay2016 for replying. Sadly, this is a ‘difference of opinion’ I’m already having with the GP, hence the referral to the Endo. Although, I don’t have my hopes up for this appt either. I just wanted some feedback on my FT4 compared to FT3 and whether both are in optimal range.
I appreciate the good luck, I think I’m going to need it! 😊
Until you’re medicated properly, tsh around 1, you can’t say. Your t3 is 55% through range so pretty good but t4 is 30% through range so still too low. T4/t3 ratio looks good.
So your endo should be able to see you’re not balanced so increase of t4 needed.
Think I would be looking for a different GP! Of course your TSH has come down, that is what you expect to see when on levo. GP obviously thinks your TSH is mid range and there it will stay. Few people on here feel well if their TSH is above 1. Mine is 0.01!!! but my T4 and T3 are well in range and it is lack of T3 which has the most impact on symptoms. Good luck with your endo but if they specialise in Diabetes I doubt you will get far!
Thanks Crimple. When The GP and I originally had our difference of opinion back in December, she apparently asked the opinions of all of the other practice GP’s. Who all agreed with her 😑. I’m taking along Dr Toft’s article today incase I need to fight my case.
You need more levo.to improve your blood results: TSH about 1 or under, FT4 and FT3 raised. 25 mcg levo is a starter dose for children or adults with known heart problem or elderly; even 50 mcg is on the low side for most. Press your endo for raise of levo.
