Hi all,

I posted a few weeks back in relation to being referred to an endo after tests showed I was subclinical hypo with fluctuation issues with ferratin and prolactin.

The endo put me on meds for 3 days then rang me and told me to stop taking them as I had a reading below the threshold (after 2 that were over)

Previous TSH readings have been:

10/1/19 - sadly I dont have the first one but from memory was around 12

22/1/19 - 5.84 (0.30 - 5.50 mu/L)

29/1/19 - 3.50 (0.30 - 5.50 mu/L)

12/2/19 - 5.39 (0.30 - 5.50 mu/L)

I also knew my TPO levels suggested Hashimotos but hadn't had the full range of thyroid tests done.

I have recently found out I am Vit D deficient and have started treatment. My levels were much lower than in this picture so at least there's an improvement there.

I have consistantly had raised ferratin.

I ordered the full thyroid check from Medichecks and the results have just come back today (as per picture)

I would be greatful of any advice / input

Thanks

Email these results to the endo

Your TSH has risen and you do need Levothyroxine

Presumably you are on high loading dose vitamin D?

As per these Local CCG guidelines

clinox.info/clinical-suppor...

Vitamin D will need retesting by GP at the end of the course of vitamin D tablets

Once you Improve level, very likely you will need on going maintenance dose to keep it there. Retesting twice yearly via vitamindtest.org.uk

Vitamin D mouth spray by Better You is good as avoids poor gut function.

It's trial and error what dose each person needs.

Yes your high TPO antibodies confirm cause of hypothyroidism is due to autoimmune thyroid disease also called Hashimoto's

Hashimoto's affects the gut and leads to low stomach acid and then low vitamin levels

Low vitamin levels affect Thyroid hormone working

Poor gut function can lead leaky gut (literally holes in gut wall) this can cause food intolerances. Most common by far is gluten. Dairy is second most common.

According to Izabella Wentz the Thyroid Pharmacist approx 5% with Hashimoto's are coeliac, but over 80% find gluten free diet helps, sometimes significantly. Either due to direct gluten intolerance (no test available) or due to leaky gut and gluten causing molecular mimicry (see Amy Myers link)

Changing to a strictly gluten free diet may help reduce symptoms, help gut heal and slowly lower TPO antibodies

Ideally ask GP for coeliac blood test first or buy test online for under £20, just to rule it out first

Trying gluten free diet for 3-6 months. If no noticeable improvement then reintroduce gluten and see if symptoms get worse

Thanks very much for your reply SlowDragon.

I am now on Vit D protocol including K2 and magnesium 👍

I have also been tested for Coeliac and that was negative. I've also had intolerance tests (I know they are likely not worth the paper written on but wanted to give it a go) and it came up with goats cheese and milk, millet seed and rice (and a few things I dont eat anyway)

I've just had a phone call from a private Endo who has agreed to see me tomorrow as i had made an enquiry a week or so ago. I'm also concerned about some of the other tests results including constant high readings for red blood count and haemoglobin, low LH and FSH, high ferratin, spikes in Prolactin and high Oestradoil. Plus that indication of the CRP HS on this new test.

I've had an awful constant pain on my right side under my ribs for a good 3 or 4 weeks and wondering if there's a problem with liver / kidneys / adrenals etc.

I'm keeping fingers crossed he may be able to shed some light.
