Ear/head symptoms with hypo/hashi

Hi, has anyone experienced full or blocked ears and full head with gushing sounds? I have been hypo on 125mg for 15 years. Had a bad virus (i think) in Nov and again in Dec with some labryintitis and dizziness but since then i have this wooly cloudy full head and ears with v mild earache. I read that this may relate to adrenals or b12 but hard to pinpoint. It seems to be getting better and then comrs back again strongly. I have been off ill since dec as virus seemd to have knocked my thyroid and am.exhausted and have lots more hypo symptoms so struggling to cope. My t3 is lower than usual so i suspect rt3 problem (hoping for thurs discount to do the full profile tomorrow). But i wonder if this ear/head symptom.may point to some thing else? (Trying lots, changed levo brand yesterday, gf, no caffeine, little dairy and sugar, yoga, now have a name of endo in my area and hoping for referral). This was all.preceeded by a very stressful few years but especiallyin the last few months so i wonder about adrenals but the test is SO expensive. So will have to just try the nutri adrenal and thyroid stuff next i think. And tips or experience would be really appreciated to try and get to the bottom of this. The head stuff is very weird. Thanks

Hi CeiliGal, well I'm hypo/ hashi & by some weird coincidence I've just this min seen your post,as just y day went to my doctors as to discuss my latest tsh levels

etc,..well 1 thing I'd put off for a long while was my ears as for ages I've had my right ear seems really full!! ( btw I suffer also from bad migraines & sinus problems for years too!)..So for 1st time I mentioned to my gp could you check my ears?...she said they 'seemed' ok - ...only thing she did was made apptment for hearing test!.. (though felt I'd sort of bn fobbed off again!)..but one thing under her breath I heard her say sounds like 'Menieres ',- but she was quick 2 dismiss that!(felt it had all bn skimmed over Again!!)..I've also suffered from Tmj, & all these again can have connections right back to thyroid!! I've also read could be a blockage in eustachian tube

I hope any of this helps, have to dash, but could catch up later though,

(Also,I'm fairly new to this site after only just diagnosed 1year ago finally after having years of misery like many others

with this,& only because for 1st time it showed up in blood test results!)

Sorry I did not reply to your mssage. But your mention of Eustacian tube sent me down into google! It definitely feels like that, I cannot equalise the pressure. I have tried all the exercises online - strange movements - and also Plantago Drops were recommended, as well as Accupuncture. But no luck so far. I will let you know if anything works.

You do need to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

FT4 and FT3 too (probably privately)

Will Gp test vitamins?

Thanks and due to my on going issues i have pushed for more tests so getting b12 and folate done on monday as welll as mono. I had asked for the full 4 iron tests but no luck so will need to go private for these and for a rt3. My vit d is at the low end so supplementing now and ferritin was ok but will repeat. Have you come across the ear thing before as a symptom? Of something else maybe.

Hi CeiliGal

In the past 4 years I have had so many problems with my ears in particular my right ear (2005 diagnosed underactgive thyroid 125mg levo)- Its always feels blocked I have went to my GP for the 1st 3years of this they would state either wax in the ear get them cleaned or no wax showing even though they still feel blocked! recommendation olive oil drops! - This has not helped at all , In Sept of last year i went private through work saw a ENT explained 2010 dizzy spells mri came back fine, 2018/19 dizzy spells worse no falls! another CT/Mri come back fine he thinks it compacted ear bear in mind in the last 14 months I have had my ears cleaned out 9 times! last time 1 week ago right ear now blocked spoke with ENT who just wanted to clean out I suggested arual fullnesss to which he stated probably snot at the back end blocking it up (via phone call btw) Now when my ears feel really bad my tinitis goes through the roof and the rest(normal apparently) like you described roaring sounds like the sea at times in my head though, been on going now 4 years no help form my GP or going private. Now referred onto a neruo as maybe be migraines. Please post any update you get I and I will also. Its so frustration im sure my GPs think I am crazy I just want help

All our gps think we are crazy!! So no worries there. It is blocked eustacian tubes i believe but difficult to clear, and hopefully not too serious but very unpleasant. It is consoling to know that all your cts were negative though, so rules out lots. Latest from.my doc is a 6 week steroid nasal spray which i am not taking! I have learnt so much from here and the facebook forums and a background in nutrition so am now on the Autoimmune Protocol AIP. It feels like i am taking control and mainly hoping to balance and prevent worsening for the future. Steroids will not help.my health at the moment. My ear symptoms vary alot, some say.linked to adrenals, and inflammation, and it also seems to be linked to food but still trying to figure out what. I think i realise i will not get anywhere with docs for this now. So working with docs for medication and tests, doing private adrenal stress test, aip and supplements for inflammation and lifestyle changes for wellness. I feel much better taking control. Just one big tip- question the docs if they wish to reduce your medication, learn about the tests, get the results of all your past tests (everything). I have had hashi for 15 years, but 4 years ago they reduced med slightly and only now connecting so so many problems to this. Looking back my tsh was suppressed, always is, but my t3 was normal and they never looked at that. I am tired of educating gps on their own blood tests. You prob know all this, but so important. If i find ear symptoms changing i will share. Oh, one other tip was to use Plantago herb for inner ear probs. I have it but not used diligently but this has worked for others apparently. So mant things to remember . Good luck.
