Hypo symptoms hoping D3 will help

I am struggling with hypo symptoms as I try to get my TSH down close to 1... tired, weak, memory/focus issues, puffy eyes, head pressure and generally feeling like crap.

My recent blood test showed D3 at 40 (range 30 - 100). My blood test 10 months ago showed D3 at 80 (30 - 100) so have had a drop in D3 - feeling very hypo and hoping D3 will help.

Doc told me to take D3 5000 with K2 (Mk7).

Does improving Vitamin D3 really help with symptoms? TSH is at 2.75 but going in the right direction.

Other vitamins:

B12 is 634 (232 - 1245)

Folate is 21 (>3.0)

Ferritin is 59 (15 - 150)

Very grateful for any feedback on vitamins/nutrients. This group is the very best source of info. Just recently saw where I can donate and plan to do that this week.

Awww you poor thing. You must be feeling rubbish. Yes low D3 can make you feel awful, aches and pains, unrefreshed sleep no matter how long you sleep for. I felt terrible. Your doctor should put you on a treatment plan to increase your vit D and then review in three months with a blood test to check the level.

TSH 2.75 - too high. Is your GP checking your ft4 level too. Ft3 is handy to know too but the nhs rarely checks this.

Yes we are working on thyroid numbers but also new doc wants to get d3 up and just wondering if higher d3 helped w symptoms. Thank you for the reply very helpful!

As you are in the US then I assume the unit of measurement for your Vit D test is ng/ml.

The Vit D Council recommends a level of 50ng/ml (125nmol/L), the Vit D Society recommends 40-60ng/ml (100-150nmol/L) and Grassroots Health also recommends 40-60ng/ml.

There's a chart within this article that shows a traffic light system for low, optimal and toxic levels. 80ng/ml is within the "caution" range.

SeasideSuzie thanks so much I was hoping you would respond. Yes the unit of measure in the u.s. is ng/ml and with the ranges you sent it looks like my D3.count of 43 is on the low side although the chart in the article shows 40 to 60 optimal. I am going to follow doc and supplement to try to help w hypo feeling. Thanks again!

I like mine at the top end of the recommended range :)

Don't forget to retest in 3 months, if it's going too high you can drop your dose back a bit.

Do you also take magnesium (needed for the body to convert D3 into it's usable form) and Vit K2-MK7 which directs the extra uptake of calcium to bones and teeth and away from arteries and soft tissues.

Yes thank you my doctor suggested the Magnesium as well picked it all up at the vitamin store yesterday really really appreciate your input.

When first tested, my Vitamin D level was only 29 ng/mL (30 - 100 ng/mL), so below normal. After I began taking 5000 IU plus 90 mcg Vitamin K2-MK7, my test result came back to 43. Six months later it had gone up to 57, but then for some reason has dropped back down to 43. Maybe 5000 IU is a "maintenance dosage" for me. I am going to try doubling the Vitamin D (but not the Vitamin K2) and I'll let you know what happens with that. I am aiming for a blood level of 60 ng/mL because I am a lung cancer survivor at risk for breast cancer.
