Can anybody please explain why Dhea needs to be tested when testing Cortisol

I was intending to do a cortisol saliva test and recently read on this site that you should really do a test which combines a Dhea test...., I am trying to keep up with all this new information I’m learning - but could anyone explain what/why it’s important to test Dhea with the Cortisol- Many Thanks 🙏

If there is an adrenal problem, the treatment depends on levels of both cortisol and dhea. It could be any combination of low, normal and high of both of them.
