Havn't written anything on this site for ages, although |I follow other peop-les problems. Had blood test come back for underactive thyroid. ( Was on 100mg but for the last 4yrs Dr reduced me to 75mg) :- Serum TSH 2.5 mU/L - 0.27 - 4.20mU/L and the Serum free T4 level 15.6 pmol/L - 11.00 - 22.00pmol/L. Do you think 75mg is low for these results?

How do you feel? Do you have symptoms? The aim of a treated patient is a TSH less than 1.0 but really how you feel is a better indication.

Can easily nod off when I sit in my chair - weight gain is a problem.

Then it sounds like you need an increase in dose. The aim of a treated hypo patient generally is for TSH to be 1 or below or wherever it needs to be for FT4 and FT3 to be in the upper part of their respective reference ranges when on Levo if that is where you feel well.

Why was your dose reduced ? Take a look at your post from a year ago - SlowDragon covered your case well with suggestions. Did you manage to test vitamins and minerals as suggested ?

I did go back to see my GP but he said he was quite happy with all my results and thought it perfectly okay to reduce me down to 75mg. I have been fine on this dosage havn't felt ill but just thought my metabolism felt sluggish. When on 100mg levo dose started to get palpitations been fine on the 75m so I think that must be why my Dr reduced dose.

Did you test B12 - Folate - Ferritin & VitD ? If these results are below optimal levels then it could be the reason you had palpitations on 100 mcg. Your B12 would be goid at 500 - Folate and Ferritin mid-range and VitD around 100. Is this where your levels are ? Also there is no T3 result - the most important one. Did you read through the replies to your last post ? As you do not hae a thyroid it is important to know if you are converting the T4 you are taking into the ACTIVE T3. I fail to see how your GP can be happy with his lack of knowledge - he is making assumptions without evidence. Are you able to have private testing through Thyroid UK ?

I really appreciate the help you have given me and intend going back to the Dr's and requesting a full blood check. I did request a print out of my latest blood test and it is apparent they only tested TSH and T4 level - not good. If I don't get any joy from my Dr I will certainly go for a private testing. Once again, thank you for your interest.
