Over-suppressed?

Thoughts please

November 2018

TSH <0.01. (0.3 - 5)

Free T4. 14.9. (12 - 22)

January 2019

TSH 0.55. (0.27 - 4.2)

Free T4. 11.4. (12 - 22) (abnormal)

Free T3 3.6. (3.2 - 6.8)

Apparently may be slightly over-suppressed.

Any thoughts please?

Thanks

Sorry, what may be over-suppressed? Your question isn't very clear, I'm afraid. What do you actually want to know? Opinions on your blood tests? Depends what you're taking at the moment. Are you still taking carbi? You most certainly aren't hyper at the moment! Your FT3 is very low, and your FT3 is below range! You must be feeling awful!

Sorry Greygoose. My printout shows

7 January

!Serum free T4 level (AK 1079) - abnormal - contact patient to book review. In smaller type -( so may be doctor's view) may be slightly over-suppressed.

11.4. (12.00-22.00)

Yes, I'm still on carbimazole 5/10 mg alternate days. No, I don't feel awful. I think I have been one of the lucky ones - Thyroid wise!

You say my FT3 is very low and below range?

Yes, sorry, I should have said your FT4 is below range. That's what they mean by 'over-suppressed'. And, it is. And, your FT3 is very low. It would be much too low for most people to feel well.

Thank you. Wasn't sure if people would agree with over-suppressed. Will they now reduce my carbimazole do you think?

Difficult question. Depends how much they understand about thyroid. Problem is, your TSH is still at the bottom of the ranges, so they might think that dose is ok. They do tend to only look at the TSH.

I would be quite happy to reduce my carbimazole as, luckily, I have never been ill with my thyroid. The only reason it was checked was due to tremors.

Thank you again for your help.
