I’ve had an underactive thyroid now for 22 years. Recently it was overactive for a few months. Now my level has dropped back down way under... I’m at 48 at the minute, taking 150 levothyroixe. I really don’t want to go back to the way I have been this past 20 years. I live in Northern Ireland and was wondering where can I buy T3 without a prescription at a reasonable price please. All help would be really appreciated. Thank You

If your levels are going up and down it's likely autoimmune thyroid disease also called Hashimoto's
Before considering adding T3 it's essential to get full Thyroid and vitamin testing
For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also extremely important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12
Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if Thyroid antibodies are raised
Low vitamin levels must be improved first
All thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and fasting. Do not take Levothyroxine dose in the 24 hours prior to test, delay and take immediately after blood draw. This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)
Private tests are available. Thousands on here forced to do this as NHS often refuses to test FT3 or antibodies or vitamins
Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have special offers, Medichecks usually have offers on Thursdays, Blue Horizon its more random
If antibodies are high this is Hashimoto's, (also known by medics here in UK more commonly as autoimmune thyroid disease).
About 90% of all hypothyroidism in Uk is due to Hashimoto's.
Low vitamins are especially common with Hashimoto's. Food intolerances are very common too, especially gluten. So it's important to get TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested at least once .
As far as I know T3 (Liothyronine) can only be on prescription. I think you may be able to buy a homopathic substitute from Amazon. I'm sorry I can not be of more help.
No that's not correct you can buy T3 cytomel and liothyroinine without prescription from the US and certain other countries i know I can't post the details here , but just to say you can buy it but its not cheap its very expensive plus shipping and customs charges . I'm in the UK by the way,
Hi Jodiedebs55, T3 is Liothyronine. It’s it’s shortened name. Cytomel / Cynomel / UniPharma / Tiromel are brand names. You can buy NDT from the US , no Liothyronine on its own. You can purchase T3 on its own in Europe. Some with it without prescription. Some over the counter. It’s reasonable if you can find a supplier and dependent on how many micrograph you take a day. While we are still in the EU we do not pay customs charges if sent from within the EU. Customs is usually 20% and £8 Royal Mail handling fee - if it’s stopped and the label is clearly marked with value of contents over $15
