I've been reading about the ineffectiveness of the new batch of naturethroid. I bought a 6 month supply of naturethroid a few weeks ago and started on it a couple of weeks ago. I am getting more tired, achy joints and generally slower.
My husband takes a NDT from Thailand, and does well on it. Do you think I can mix the two types of NDT? I spent a fortune on my supply of naturethroid. Is it okay to mix the two and see if I can get a balance?
Thanks as always..

I could, but I'm worried that I may become more hypo over time based in what I've read about Naturethroid. Really worried as I have some important events coming up at work.
I am worried that if I continue with naturethroid I may become more hypo. I thought to try mixing Thai brand and NT with a view to switching over fully to Thai brand if I do okay. I'm so disappointed as I had been doing well on NT, that's why I stuck with it despite the high cost. However, I can see your point and it will be difficult to measure what's working and what's not if I mix the 2 brands.
Anxiety kicked in last night, so I'm definitely going backwards.
If you continue with Nature Throid, you won't become more hypo, you'll just become less well medicated. Why not just do a straight swop with the Thai brand and see what happens?
It's so annoying isn't it! Yes I'm sure you can mix brands. Whenever I've either got a new batch or had to switch to a new brand I've done it in stages by substituting bits of the new one for the old, so there's never a sudden change. I haven't noticed a problem doing this. I've also read of others who take two different ones due to cost.
Please could you let me know the lot number of the Nature-Throid you've recently got? I'm trying to compare and see if there's any pattern, also to know if it's just me or if something else might be wrong. You'll find it to the right of the label next to the barcode. It may be underneath the pharmacists' label which peels back easily, or it may be on an invoice if they've been dispensed into brown jars - thank you and good luck!
Thank you, I've added yours to the list, so far it's a mix of dates and strengths. I wonder if RLC Labs would be interested, they've stopped replying to my emails and messages now! At least when ERFA cause problems their medical director listened and responded.
Well if they were producing inconsistent batches before whatever happened to them last year, it could mean they were trying out new ingredients back then. Nature-Throid is supposed to have been very consistent at that time. I've heard that the company who took over Armour then took over the thyroid extract supply, increased the price and that RLC Labs decided to go elsewhere to source the thyroid extract. I don't know exactly when that was, but they might have decided to try a new source round about the time yours were made. Of course it might be another reason, but I can't remember hearing complaints about Nature-Throid in the past.
Could mine be fake? It’s odd that I was sent 2pots of 2 grain when it had been out of stock for months. Mine should have been new stock? Why was it so old?
Thank you meme, I hope you saw my reply about my ERFA from the same place. So either it was left on a shelf somewhere, or it was decanted at some stage with the wrong batch number. The other thing is that all the other batches in the list have the second number corresponding to the month of manufacture and expiry (exactly three years later). Yours shows manufacture in an April and expiry in a September, which is 3 years and 5 months later, which is a strange length of time, unless that's how it always used to be.
Hi another question. I found a bottle of 1 grains without a batch number. This arrived as part of my last prescription. Have you had any instances of this?
Sometimes when Alium have dispensed my private prescription they've sent me brown jars, but when they do that they've always shown the lot number and expiry date on the invoice. I've never had that happen from other pharmacies though, only ever the original bottles with a lot number and expiry date showing somewhere. I think it's a legal requirement actually to show the expiry date on medicines. If that did happen to me I'd phone the pharmacy for the details of it.
I have just ditched my new lot of Nature-Throid it wasn't working I had purchased 2 grain tablets I am now back on my last lot of thyroid s. Not brilliant but better than the NT.
New year, new regime again and again.
It's so annoying paying out for rubbish but I personally wouldn't mix the two.
What size grain did you purchase? Mine was 2 grain.
My chemist only had 0.5 grains available so I bought those..which means multiple tablets a day. I will stick with it a bit longer and see I have spent so much money on them.
