thyroid-s nightmare

I’ve been experimenting with ndt for the last 10 months and having a lot of challenges. As I live in Europe I obtained Thyroid-S from Thailand.. if anyone has experience would love to hear from you. I became almost suicidal on them, always ‘on’, couldn’t raise them etc. After many many challenges, I’ve now found a compound pharmacist and switched over just 2 days ago and finally calmed down.

I took my labs today after over 5 weeks on Thyroid-S and on two grains, one after breakfast, one after lunch, my free T4 is still low and I’ve never been able to get my T4 to optimum. I used to be on lev100 mcg. before for over 10 years, but couldn’t get the t3 above minimum, was always below.

My results this morning of 2 grains are:

TSH 1.66

Ft3 3.97 ( 3.10-6.80)

Ft4 9.67 ( 12-22).

I don’t have rt3 since this test is not done in Europe.

I’m planning on 4 weeks of the new ndt and to re test to see if it goes up or then I need more ndt?

Any insights appreciated.

The recommended timing for blood results is for 6-8 weeks (longer is better) on a stable dose. Anything before that and results could change in the following weeks. A dose needs time to 'settle'.

Are you also supplementing any low vitamin levels? What were you most recent results for ferritin, folate, B12 & D3?

Thyroid hormone only works well when these levels are at OPTIMAL levels.

On almost all NDT it’s normal for Ft4 to be low

But Ft3 should be at good level when adequately treated

Results suggest you need next increase in dose

Also test vitamin levels

I had been on Thyroid s for years you need an increase try just 1.4 and then 1/2 your results look too low. I was on 2.25 split twice but most people are on 3 plus. After changing from Levo only after only 8 weeks my levels were perfect, that was on 2.5 grains per day. But years later I reduced to 2.25 for the same results. I always felt extremely well, without a thyroid too.

Thank you. Do you take it with food and what’s your diet like? I’m trying to put the pieces together still … if I take it without food, it’s like I’ve had a liter of coffee and I can’t calm down

I'm having the same experience on batch TA22054. Before this, I never had problems with Thyroid S. I think they changed the formula since the TA22 batches. However, at least one other is doing well on batch 54 and I had that with Tru Thyroid. Did very well on batches that did not work for others.

Maybe a different batch can work out for you. Or maybe you can try to get Armour, which is still stable.

I never took it with food the first dose of 1.25 grains at around 6/7am and another one after lunch at least 1 hour afterward.

When I started on it I was on 100 levo a day. I stopped the levo the next day and started on 1/.4 grain in the am and so on I found I could increase every 10 days or so.

I was never on 30mcg only on the 60mcg. Mine was Thyroid s which is slower release.

Until I was 68 I never had a thyroid problem. I have never smoked and have always eaten a very healthy diet. I have never been overweight. I was a runner up until my sixties so very fit.

Perhaps your adrenals need help or you have started a bit to fast on your dosage?

Thank you for these insights. What is your diet like? I’ve tried going vegan last 10 months and I believe that could be one of the issues as well. I’ve recently added eggs and other animal protein. I avoid gluten and diary.

I have never actually been on a diet, but have always eaten a heathy. I don't suffer like many others on here from overweight and gut problems sorry I don't know anything about these problems.

I just stick to my tried and tested 77 years old eating pattern. A Little meat, fish three times a week plenty of fruit and veg this suits me. I have never smoked and have always been very fit up until my thyroid problems.

Sorry I can't be of more help.
