Dear All,

Just received my T3 from Germany today. I placed the actual order on the 11th December and posted the prescription the next day. Phew!

The website itself was very easy to use and you receive email updates - order confirmation, processed and shipped.

I'm hoping for a happy and healthier New Year for everyone. These online communities really help you get your life back. Thank you so much to everyone who has guided me this year. I seriously believe that I would be totally incapacitated and depressed by now if it wasn't for Marz, all those months ago, mentioning that my thyroid was struggling. Thank you Marz. I didn't want to consider it at the time, too many other things going on, I needed time to process and get used to SI B12 but as my health declined, I knew that thyroid was one of the missing pieces.

The best thing about this site is that it's very good natured and even humorous sometimes, we so need that in so many ways!

I remember when I first read your comments and you mentioned you had both PA and Hashimoto's. I thought "poor woman" and now I've joined that club 😉

After two tough years with other high stress events, I've decided to go self employed in the New Year with my own dementia sitting service. Definitely onwards and upwards!

That's wonderful that you are now able to assist families who have a loved one with dementia. A very worthwhile job in these days when there seems to be more and more diagnoses within families.

It's scary to think just in my home town, there's over 2,000 people with that diagnosis. So many family and friends affected as a result.

I wonder why doctors do not make sure that the elderlies have optimum vitamins/minerals especially of Vit D and B12. All doctors seem to believe if vits/minerals are' somewhere in range' that we're have sufficient when it should be optimum - both Vit D and B12 are essential hormones.

Excerpt re B12:-

Research seems to be showing that the Active B12 test is a better option to check for B12 deficiency. However, this test is not available generally on the NHS.

It can be obtained privately from various laboratories though, as can other tests to check for Pernicious Anaemia which aren’t often done on the NHS:

Hi - good to read of your plans for a new career ! I am fortunate not to have PA but do have B12 Deficiency due to surgery ... no terminal ileum from age 27 (now reverse the numbers !! ) - and they forgot to tell me I would need injections - ummm.

We have taken ourselves off to Heraklion for some R&R over Christmas. Arrived yesterday !

Regarding your work with Dementia people I am wondering if you have come across David Perlmutter - an American neurologist - ? Am re-reading his book - The Grain Brain. I cannot help agreeing with him that we are now witnessing the fall-out of the low-fat eating of the 70's and too many carbs - also gut inflammation. He alsi has a website and Newsletters.

You will also be able to ensure sufferers have good thyroid levels along with B12 & VitD. 😊

Yes - had a quick look at docsopinion and noticed the comments/opinions were of that time - around 2004 I believe. OMG there has been a health revolution since then regarding the gut microbiome and the brain. If we onky learn one thing from his book then it has to be worthwhile. His father was also a Neurologist who descended rapidly into advanced Alzheimers at a time when prevention was not a consideration. I believe his writings are of value.

I suggest you read his books before being influenced by others - then you can have your own opinion ! Yes lots of people sell stuff - but you don't have to buy it 😎

Generally agree ,but the detail in thecut (different from docsopinion) was sufficient to decide not to buy the books.

There is always some truth amongst the speculative assertions. It seems many of the US experts and other self proclaimed experts promote their own vits etc. and I will not be buying from the US.

Were you really up at 4am as suggested above the post or is Greece 2'hours ahad of UK?

So you're still a young lady 😉 Of course, I remember your bio now. It's so frustrating to know that we haven't moved on in all those years. A friend recently had a major op for bowel cancer and there's been no mention of B12 injections. I nag her to get treated but even though she's relatively young, she still doesn't like to make a fuss.

That sounds like a wonderful way to spend Christmas. I'm off to Wales so not so much in the way of architecture and history but it will be lovely.

Thanks about the book and neurologist recommendation, I'll look forward to reading his work. I wasn't sure about mentioning my work plans so I'm pleased I did now. I've already come across clients that so need a thorough blood test to check out their levels. It takes time, of course, to build up that trust and rapport but now I can use my experiences to firstly be able to relate to people feeling vulnerable and secondly, I can pass on my newly gained knowledge. Far too many cases could be prevented and/or their symptoms at least reduced.

Not wishing to get political over this, but does anyone know how crashing out of the EU on either a 'No-Deal' or 'May's Abysmal Deal' basis is going to affect this route?

If we leave with no deal, the current EU directive allowing member states to recognise and fulfil prescriptions issued in another member state is presumably null and void for us. presumably this would also apply to any arrangements there might currently be in this respect between the EU and third countries.

A very quick look on Google suggests that pharmacists in EEA countries can recognise fellow members' prescriptions if they so choose, but are not compelled to do so. As I understand it, we would also fall out of the EEA if we left the EU with no deal, and to be part of the EEA we would need to first join EFTA - and Norway has been very clear about the likelihood of that happening.

I don't know what would happen under May's deal. My limited understanding is that many things would remain the same during the transition period, but I don't know whether or not this would be one of them. What would happen after that depends of course on what the government negotiates; given their stellar work so far, I'm not exactly expecting great things if it comes to it.

The EU page on cross-border prescriptions does not (yet?) identify that post-brexit UK prescriptions would be recognised by EU pharmacies - or vice versa.

I'd expect EU pharmacies to cease recognising UK prescriptions significantly before 29/03/2019 because they will not want any possibility of all the paperwork not having been fully processed before brexit.
