Hi

Does anyone currently get lactose free liothyronine from one of the German pharmacies? If so, could you please let me know which one(s) I should contact?

I have a prescription from a private endo.

Many thanks!

I’ve just looked at the list provided on the Thyroid UK website and Thybon Henning is lactose free 😃

The Thyroid UK website has a couple of German pharmacies that will supply against a UK prescription (private or NHS).

thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/treatm...

Henning and Aliud are lactose-free.

Their recognition of UK prescriptions will cease at brexit.

UK Teva levothyroxine is lactose-free. Trouble is, many people find they do not tolerate it. A few say it is the best for them.

Thanks helvella!

Is that certain that Brexit will affect the prescriptions in that way?

My opinion is that there is no chance whatsoever of the current cross-border prescription regime remaining in place. In time, some mutual accommodation might come about but I really don't expect it before 29/03/2019.

Just the other day, this was passed to cope with the (posssible) fallout of brexit:

2019 No. 62

MEDICINES

The Human Medicines (Amendment) Regulations 2019

Made - 14th January 2019

Laid before Parliament - 18th January 2019

Coming into force - 9th February 2019

legislation.gov.uk/uksi/201...

Seems to be largely about allowing additional substitutions in the case of severe shortages.

Fingers crossed an agreement is made soon! In the meantime I’d better ask my endo to write a prescription for a good number of months supply!

I've sent you a message.
