Using t3 and t4 and now pregnant

Hi all,

Four weeks ago I had these blood test results below when I was on 37.5mcg of t4 and 6.25mcg of t3

TSH 1.17 (0.27-4.2)

T4 13.6 ( 10.5-25.5)

Advice from here was to up my dose as I was still feeling I'll, fatigue, headaches, no appetite, brain fog , insomnia, air hungry, eyes pulling, spaced out are just a few to name . So I upped Levo to 50mcg monday &Friday only, t3 remained the same daily. (Was gonna hold for 6weeks before I retest again)

But Today I found out I am 4weeks+ pregnant (woohoo)... so how much should I increase again ?

Also should I let my gp know I'm self medicating with t3? Do they have to know?

I'm also on magnesium, biotin, ferrous sulphate , mythelyfolate, cod liver oil & vit d.. is it safe to continue with all these whilst pregnsnt and anything else I may need to add??

Any advice highly appreciated..

Thank you

You really need to get tested again to include a FT3 reading now you are pregnant, congratulations by the way. Once you get the FT3 reading added in then results are read differently so the hospital need to know what medication you are taking but I should ask your doctor to refer you to the hospital early because you understand that they like to monitor you earlier because of your thyroid and may advise an increase before the time of what is considered the first appointment. Baby will be using your medication at the moment until it's own thyroid devrlopes and kicks in so you need more so yours doesn't drop too much. I had my family before I was diagnosed so not had this experience so this is just what I've understood from other posters.

Thank you for replying..

Yes, I was planning to test for t3's soon but in the mean time don't know how much I need to increase meds as I just found out about my pregnancy.

I'm not sure not having been in that position but it's the reason to get your referral to the hospital so they can monitor you. It's also important I understand to get your TSH in the right area which I think is under 2.5. Raiding your dose will also decrease you TSH although yours will be suppressed anyway asyou are taking T3 so not sure how that is dealt with. I think you most probably need you Thyroid treatment sorted by someone in the hospital as they will be thinking more of your little one and keeping him/her safe and happy.
