Good morning everyone.

I recently did the thyroid ultravit test (see previous post for my last TSH, T4 and T3 results). The results are as follows:

ENDOCRINOLOGY

Thyroid Function

THYROID STIMULATING HORMONE 3.8 mIU/L 0.27-4.20

FREE THYROXINE 19.300 pmol/L 12.00- 22.00

FREE T3 4.93 pmol/L 3.10- 6.80

THYROGLOBULIN ANTIBODY *

476.000 IU/mL 0.00- 115.00

THYROID PEROXIDASE ANTIBODIES *

279 IU/mL 0.00-34.00

HAEMATOLOGY

Vitamins

ACTIVE B12 135.000 pmol/L 37.50- 188.00

FOLATE (SERUM)

New sample required

25 OH VITAMIN D

*40.6 nmol/L 50.00- 200.00

Interpretation of results:

Deficient <25

Insufficient 25- 49

Normal Range 50- 200

Consider reducing dose >200

BIOCHEMISTRY

Inflammation Marker

CRP - HIGH SENSITIVITY *10.83 mg/l 0.00- 5.00

Iron Status

FERRITIN *

153 ug/L 13.00- 150.00

My ferritin is slightly over range but I haven't been taken iron supplements. Any thoughts on this result?

CRP marker is over range but I did test while suffering from a cold virus. Could that have an affect on CRP?

I did stop all supplements several weeks before testing but now intend to start supplementing again with the following:

BetterYou Vitamin D+K2 3000. Should I do 3 sprays per day?

Ignneus Super B-Complex 1 per day

Jarrow Formulas - Methyl B-12, 5000 mcg 1 per week.

The symptoms I was experiencing before my previous test have gone. My TSH has reduced from previous level of 7.28 and I feel ok but as my TSH is 3.8 I am going to increase my levothyroxine. I am currently taking 100mcg per day so thought I would increase to 125/100 on alternate days.

I have not had a thyrogobulin antibody test before but I did have a TPO test in June 2017 and at that time the result for TPO was 768 >100+

I have just sent a sample back to retest my folate.

Any thoughts on any of the above?

Thank you in advance for any comments.

How much vitamin D were you supplementing before?

Obviously it's still too low. Needs improving to at least 80nmol and around 100nmol may be better

Are you also supplementing magnesium?

Ferritin can be slightly over range due to inflammation of Hashimoto's

Yes CRP is likely high due to recent cold

As you have Hashimoto's Are you on strictly gluten free diet ?

If not, get coeliac test first, (from GP or online) before trying in for 3-6 months. It may improve symptoms and slowly lower TPO antibodies

Did you remember to not take Levothyroxine in 24 hours prior to test? Your FT4 is near top of range. FT3 pretty good

I agree only increase Levothyroxine to 100/125mcg alternate days, until vitamin D improves and get folate test back.

Retest again in 6-8 weeks after being on higher Levothyroxine dose

TG antibodies may lower as TSH drops

Thank you SlowDragon for such detailed advice.

I was taking BetterYou 1000 Vitamin D before.

I have bought the 3000 BetterYou VitD+K2. Do you think I should do 3 sprays per day?

Yes I am supplementing with magnesium when I remember! I have a BetterYou magnesuim spray which I use when I go to bed. I also occasionally use magnesium bath salts and I have a bottle of Nu U Magnesium citrate which I haven't been using regularly but intend to as from now.

I did go gluten free for several months but slipped. I was experiencing some stomach bloating, cramping and diarrhoea a few weeks ago which I am no longer experiencing. I'm not sure if this was related to eating gluten again but I am going to make an effort not to eat gluten as although I don't think I'm coeliac (not been tested) I think I might have an intolerance to gluten.

Yes I remembered not to take levothyroxine in 24 hours prior to test.

I would suggest you try try just one 3000iu spray one day, then 2 sprays next day (6000iu) for a week (works out as 4500iu per day)

If no adverse reaction (unlikely) then perhaps do approx month of 2 sprays per day. Then revert to alternate days

Retest after 3 months
