I give up

Picked up a copy of my results from the surgery today. On Friday when I phoned to request a copy the secretary said the doc had not seen the results and she would need to see them first although the receptionist had already given me the results that they were all OK. She then phoned me back to say she had left them with the trainee doc I saw who was going to discuss them with another doc and I was booked in for a phone call today Monday but there was no phone call.

free T4 16.8 pmol/L (9-24 U)

TSH 4.12 mU/L (o.3-6 U)

You were told they were OK because they're within the reference range. However, they're not optimal. You are undermedicated and SlowDragon gave you information about where TSH should be according to Dr Toft's article and NHS Leeds Teaching Hospitals in her reply to your previous post

I would make a face to face appointment and present this evidence and ask for an increase in Levo.

As for your vitamins

serum folate 9.0 ug/L (2.4-20 U)

This should be at least half way through range so that's 11+ with that range. Eating plenty of folate rich foods will help, as will a good B Complex such as Thorne Basic B or Igennus Super B.

serum vitamin B12 459.0 ng/L (211-900 U)

This is less than recommended in an extract from the book, "Could it be B12?" by Sally M. Pacholok:

"We believe that the 'normal' serum B12 threshold needs to be raised from 200 pg/ml to at least 450 pg/ml because deficiencies begin to appear in the cerebrospinal fluid below 550".

"For brain and nervous system health and prevention of disease in older adults, serum B12 levels should be maintained near or above 1000 pg/ml."

Either of the B Complex supplements mentioned above contain 400mcg methlcobalamin (B12) which should improve your level.

serum ferritin 69.2 ug/L (12-300 U)

Ferritin is recommended to be half way through range, with a minimum of 70 for thyroid hormone to work. You can help raise your level by eating liver regularly, maximum 200g per week due to it's high Vit A content, or liver pate or black pudding, and including lots of iron rich foods in your diet apjcn.nhri.org.tw/server/in...

It would be a good idea to test Vit D. If GP is not willing, there is an easy home fingerprick blood spot test available for £29 from vitamindtest.org.uk/

See GP and request 25mcg dose increase in Levothyroxine as per my previous advice in first post

It has become so difficult to see a Dr now, unless it is an emergency, it has become a long complicated process which I wont bore you with. On Friday when I requested the copies the secretary said she had booked me in for a phone call and the Dr would be in touch Monday, I didn't get it. I do have another appointment on the 20th to see the trainee Dr I saw last time. I have printed out the pages you advised and also a copy of a list of my results which I started keeping in 2010. About 7 years ago my son was very ill with a form of auto immune disease but although in the same practice no one mentioned my thyroid.
