Ferritin: 13 (10-200)

Please go and see your doctor, point this out and ask for an iron panel and full blood count.

Low ferritin can suggest iron deficiency anaemia, you need to find out if this applies to you.

Thank you I will suggest a full panel. Its an up hill battle with my docs. I asked my thyroid specialist about my anti bodies and was told we tested them once and yes they were high, but we don’t need to test them again. My GP screwed up on my meds, but screwed up in a good way. She prescribed my T3 strength to be taken twice a day instead of once and I noticed the difference the first day I took it. It has been all positive. But I went and got my thyroid specialist to fill the prescription and she filled it out to be taken only once a day. My next appointment to see her isn’t until January. Sometimes that Mountain peep seems so far out of touch.

Re the B12 part - when you take B12 it often makes your results read high but doesn’t necessarily mean you’re overdosing. If you found the B12 helped, keep taking it. It’s a water soluble vitamin so you’ll just pee out any excess that your body doesn’t need.

I have a b12 deficiency and have injections every 8 week. If my blood tests were anything to go but I’d be fine as always show more than 2000 but after a referral with haematology they told my doctor to keep giving them to me when I was symptomatic. I have them every 8 weeks mostly with occasionally more regular but that letter really helped. I can’t absorb it at all through food so supplements don’t help me.

Standard advice is take Magnesium for cramps, I take it but still get cramp in toes and calfs. I wonder if the cramp is connected to an under-functioning thyroid.

Thanks, I take Magnesium 2 times day. The B12 is the only thing that seems to take them away. I eat potassium and drink calcium rich coconut milk. So I had all the bases covered, until the doc said to cut out B12
