So I have tried T3 and it does not like me at all, even trying very small amounts just sends me wappy...

All vitamins are great and ft4 is top if range but ft3 is mid range...

Iv heard antidepressants can raise t3 levels??

I'm thinking if trying citalopram anyone else on this one?

Or should I give t3 another go??

Symptoms are mental -

Feel like I'm going Crazy for 5 minutes then it goes away.

Go into very low moods for 10 minutes then go back to normal.

Feel detached like I'm dreaming very freaky!!.

Weird ocd thoughts.

Ears pumping and fuzzy like an gear my blood pumping ( blood pressure fine)

I am sorry T3 isn't helping you.

When you switched over to T3, did you begin on an approximate dose of what you were taking on T4? You could also try a T4/T3 combinatiton. You can also add every two weeks a 1/4 tablet of T3 always taking pulse/temp. If either goes too high you drop to previous dose.

T3 can also be used as an anti-depressant. Maybe you're sensitive to something in your in the fillers/binders in the T3. You could try taking one anti-histamine tablet one hour before T3 and see if you feel better - if so you'd have to try a different T3.

Taking too small a dose may not help you as T3 has to saturate all other T3 receptor cells and then its work begins for between one to three days.

Do you split your T3 doses or take it in one dose?

Hi shaws, after 10 years of being ok on levo and plodding along nicely, 2 years ago i had some kind of breakdown, felt like i was going crazy, it has ruined these last 2 years of my life, then when my thyroid levels were checked it revealev a high tsh and a high ft4 and mid range ft3!.. all endos have done these last 2 years is adjust does of levo tiny bits up and down, so i bought some t3 tiromel brand from turkey and i lowered my t4 to 75mcg from 100mcg, as my ft4 was slightly over range but ft3 still mid range tsh at 8, i quartered the t3 tablet but after one hour approx had a surge of anxiety, i tried this for a few week increasing eventually to 5mg but started getting anger bursts and feeling depressed..

Im thinking because maybe i need my ft4 slightly over range that i should have just stayed on 100mcg of levo and added 5mg of t3,??

Hi

When I was on Levothyroxine only I didn’t feel right at all, in fact worse than before I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s and an underactive Thyroid.

I then decided to ditch Levothyroxine and self medicate on T3 only.

I stopped Levothyroxine and felt fantastic, but knew I had to have some thyroid medication. I built my dosage up very carefully and slowly. I started to feel a lot better, better on T3 than Levothyroxine.

I got to 37.5mcg of T3 taken in spilt dosage as I couldn’t do it all in one go.

Anyway, I still didn’t feel perfect, and I’ve tried 5 times to increase my T3 with very negative effects.

My neck stiffness has come back, this started when on Levothyroxine, but disappeared when I started T3.

I have ringing in my ears and my ears are blocked, I stopped T3 a few days ago and I noticed when I had my T3 the pain was more intense. Unfortunately my ears are still blocked, and my neck pain is still there.

Have you tried NDT, are your adrenals/cortisol levels ok?

It appears mine are not perfect which maybe why I’m experiencing problems with increasing my T3. Maybe have a look into this?.

Best wishes

Sorry if this has been asked, but has your T4 make changed?

Some people don’t get on with TEVA brand, stress is a big no no when we have thyroid issues.

Give T3 another go before anti depressants, take it slowly with your increases. Keep a diary of your symptoms on your increases, you might see a pattern from keeping a record.

Good luck & take care

I'm strictly on mercurypharma brand only and have been for a year now i have tried numerous brands and settled best on this one, though I used to believe different brands were causing the symptoms but I know now it's just my unstable levels..

Yes I'm trying my best to get t3 on the nhs, I'm hoping my next end visit as it's been 2 years they may give in 😒

Well good luck with T3 on the NHS.

Many patients that were given T3 on the NHS are now being taken off it all together.

They are having to fight tooth and nail for something that is clearly making them well.

Many are being forced to self medicate with T3 themselves just to keep well and those supplies are getting limited and unrealiable.

Thyroid U.K. and other thyroid charities are fighting this situation as we speak.

Best wishes

I've heard selenium supplements can help with converting T4 to T3, so it could be worth doing a trial of selenium for a few weeks? Just try 100-200mcg.
