I've been reading that it is "normal" for women to lose hair as they get older. Sorry, but in this instance, I don't believe "normal" is synonymous with "healthy." I lost all my hair when I went through chemo 4 years ago. That may have been "to be expected" but it certainly isn't a marker of good health. It seemed to have mostly grown back, but lately I notice a distinct change in my hairline. I'm getting extremely thin on top and at the crown. What I am wondering is this: If I could convince my doctor (or find one that doesn't require convincing) to add some T3 to my Synthroid therapy, is there any chance some of that lost hair would grow back?

Does taking T3 restore hair that was lost while hypo?
I am having a similar problem! Curious what you hear!
Well, it hasn't made mine grow back!
Have you had your ferritin tested? Low iron is very bad for hair.
Does this count?
IRON82 UG/DL30 - 160 UG/DL
TOTAL IRON BINDING CAPACITY331 UG/DL228 - 428 UG/DL
IRON/TOTAL IRON BINDING CAPACITY25 %13 - 50 %
Although t3 has helped almost all of my symptoms, it hasn't helped my hair.
I'm on every supplement recommended and still no joy. I feel your pain, its so upsetting and I'm sorry I don't have better news.....fingers crossed there are others that have better results to share x
Unfortunately hair thinning and hair loss are a natural part of ageing, maybe not for everyone but is extremely common.
Up until the mid 20th century it was extremely common for adults to lose most of their adult teeth. Common, but not healthy. It is also extremely common for men to begin to lost the ability to have and/or sustain an erection as they age. Again, common, but not healthy. Tooth loss is an indication of a health problem--perhaps tooth decay. Erectile dysfunction is also a signal from the body that there is a problem -- perhaps BPH, perhaps something much worse. Hair shedding is common and natural. Hair loss signals a health problem. aad.org/public/skin-hair-na...
Being hypo or hyper can also cause hair loss . Nutrients are very important to have in place too . Did you have recent thyroid lab done and on nutrients too ? Like B-12/Folate Vitamin "D" /K2 , Ferritin ?
