Just wondered if anyone else has experienced it? I had it for a week or so a few months ago and I’m trying to remember if it was after a Hashis flare. It’s come back this week and is a very odd sensation. Not very pleasant. I’m not due to do a blood test for a few weeks but have halved my T3 from 20mcg to 10mcg for the last couple of days, keeping T4 at 100mcg. Am hoping it will flush any excess T3 out of my system.
Would be very interested to hear if members have experienced the same.

Hi Kipsy, I’ve only ever overdosed on T4, though I suppose that meant I had too much T3 as well as I would have converted it. The first sign I had wasn’t racing heart etc., that took a few more days to kick in, it was a feeling of nausea. But it was like feeling sick because of something syrupy or sugary if that makes sense. It sounds dry similar to what you are describing. Weird. But the best way I can describe it is a sweet sickness. Wish I’d heeded the warning - I definitely would if I felt it again - after that it was the heart rollercoaster ride and even dropping the Levo didn’t stop it very rapidly. I ended up having to come off altogether for a while. Hope You get rid of the sweet taste and feel better soon. 🎢
Thank you MissGrace- sorry to hear you suffered like that. Mine isn’t a feeling of nausea- just a very sweet taste throughout the day. I think I might be having a Hashi flare & seem to remember that during one I lose about a pound a day. From research today, I think my body might burn fat during a flare (I always put it back on afterwards 😩) and that might be the cause of the sweet taste as the body goes into ketosis. I shall monitor it!! Thanks again x
I've had it on and off and thought maybe I'd developed diabetes but I have dip sticks and all was fine so I've no idea what causes it. I'm on T3/T4 combo
I’m on a combo too. It makes me think of diabetes too but I had my sugar levels tested recently & they were absolutely normal. Do you have Hashis? Since dropping my T3 down by 10mcg three days ago, the sweet taste has now gone. I’m pretty certain it’s something I get when my T3 levels get too high, probably due to a Hashis flare. It’s a relief to be back to normal.
No, I had Graves followed by RAI. I will take notice next time I get it but without a blood test I won't really know. I usually can tell if I go a bit over as I get the tremor and the palpitations
