UPDATE: I am seriously thinking of taking legal action against my ex endocrinologist. On my very first post on this forum, I stated that my endo had said that I'd gone from hypo to hyper...thyroid storm she called it. You knowledgeable people on this forum stated that this was not possible, and so I began to investigate. Lo and behold, I FOUND THE TRUTH!!!! This so called endo, to whom I paid a lot of money to screwed up my entire system. She was treating me for an overactive thyroid when it wasn't overactive !!!! I was on 200 mcg of Synthroid. This endo took me off of the Synthroid for 2 weeks and that is when I began to get panic attacks. I brought this to the attention of the endo and she suggested antidepressants which I declined. I knew it was the lack of thyroid medication. After two weeks, she put me back on the Synthroid, but at 50mcg, not 200mcg and this is when I began to experience lack of sleep; prior to this I'd been sleeping about 15 hours daily and the endo was aware of this. When I expressed my concern about my lack of sleep on such a low dose of Synthroid, she totally ignored it and did not increase. I started experiencing all the symptoms of being undermedicated and less and less sleep. I could literally feel my levels going up and I was getting sicker and sicker. At my very last appointment with her which I basically crawled to because I was feeling so sick, she said "Congratulations, your TSH is normal." That witch had gotten my level to 2.8(.3-3.00). I have never had such a high level since I was diagnosed almost 25 years ago. I was horrified !!!!! No wonder I was so ill and now I also had to contend with not being able to sleep. These are my levels I came to her with TSH 0.17(0.40-4.50); Free T4 1.4(0.8-1.8) Free T3 2.7(2.3-4.2). She did find that I was deficient in vitamin D and that I had Pernicious Anemia and these were the reason I was sick initially. Had she worked on these and not screwed with my thyroid, I wouldn't be as sick as I am now. I definitely would be sleeping. Now I'm back trying to bring my levels back to this which is optimal for me and hopefully all these symptoms will disappear and I'll be back sleeping once again. I will never arbitrarily take another doctor at their word again.

Horrible. So sorry. Sue her! Wish more people did & maybe doctors would pay attention to us as people, not lab rat test results.
