Ib just got my results i askdd for t3 and t4 to be checked its come back normal is thst right im stil on 50mcg my hsir is still thining and my stomach isnt and hasnt been great for 4 months nearly what else can be done

Never accept "normal", always ask for a print out of your results which we are legally entitled to in the UK. Pop along to your surgery's reception desk and ask for them, don't accept verbal or handwritten results, mistakes can be made, ensure you get a print out that includes the reference ranges as well as the results, eg

TSH: 2.5 (0.2-4.2)

Did you do the test under the conditions we always advise here:

First appointment of the morning for the blood draw

Delay breakfast and drink water only until after the blood draw

Leave off Levo for 24 hours before the blood draw.

In your other post you said you took your Levo at 2am on the day of the test. That has probably given a higher than normal circulating level of FT4.

Essential to also test vitamin D, folate, B12 and ferritin

Plus both TPO and TG Thyroid antibodies and FT3

50mcg is only a starter dose.

TSH needs to be around one and FT4 towards top of range

Most people need dose increased slowly in 25mcg steps over first year. Retesting 6-8 weeks after each increase

IBS is often due to being hypothyroid, especially if you have autoimmune thyroid (Hashimoto’s)

Diagnosed by high thyroid antibodies

Always get printed copies of actual results and ranges on all blood tests

I was told by a work collegue who also is on thyroxine that it dsbt mske a difference if u dont take thyroxibe for 24 hours. I asked for another go said too soon. Would have to wait
