Thyroid touch

Hello everyone, I have shooting pains up my neck, and I recently look at a thyroid video to see where it is, the person in the video touched the thyroid and said it feels like mush, when I touch mine it feels solid... Do you know what makes it like that ?

Have you ever had a scan of your thyroid? I know very little about thyroid nodules but if it's hard instead of soft it may be a different kind of lump. Probably needs checking, especially as it's causing some pain.
