Good evening guys I thought I would write a post as I've been browsing the net tonight finding the magical cure for thyroid swelling and nodules etc, lol only joking😁 but if someone said if you stand on your head for a hour all will be better I would!!
I came across a article about the benefits of a castor oil massage to the neck or a castor oil pack yo the neck for one hour, apparently its meant to reduce swelling and nodules can be dissolved?? Hmm , now I think I may try this for a while, I usually use a heat pad on the thyroid as this relaxes and soothes any discomfort too, anyone know if this works or that I should not do it? Good reviews welcome or if you think its twaddle your welcome too!!👎👍
I've heard of black seed oil being used, no doubt much to the pleasure of the producers. Same seed, different method of administration: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl...
Thanks for info, there is lots of different things to try but whether it works is another thing eh, but I will try the castor oil, I think I will do the massage one.😁
Castor oil packs with heat supposedly draws out toxins. Commonly it was used over the liver but I've never read it the way you describe. I've read it is good for blepharitis on eyelids which helps lubricate them.
Thankyou yes I read that too about the liver it was on the sane article, you can massage for 10 mins or use a pack for one hour, just wanted to make sure I was not going to do further damage😁
Is caster oil absorbed into the bloodstream by being massaged into the skin? I don't see how it would have any direct effect unless it does. On the other hand it would probably be calming and soothing and make you feel better anyway.
A heat pad sounds just as good though. I feel better having a hot shower, especially letting the water run over the back of my neck (near where the body's heat sensor is, I think) I get my best thoughts in the shower but often forget them before being able to write anything down. Maybe get one of those note pads divers use, lol.
Seriously, it can't do any harm, except to your pocket if it's expensive.
Hi there, yes I do not see how massaging it in works either? I think its worth ago though, I like heat and I do put a heat pad on the front and back of the neck. I've seen castor oil for around £9, I think I will get it tomorrow and report with my magical cure🌻 lol
Castor oil is pretty viscous, hence Castrol for engines. I would not use it to massage without thinning as it would pull the skin. I use it in soap-making for its lathering and conditioning qualities.
Not sure how it can dissolve nodules. Heather's massage technique on u tube with sweeping movements from behind the ears is soothing, but I would no want to use firm massage over the neck area as it is so sensitive. May be it is the heat combined with the
Its vile stuff!!!😨😦😵 it really smells as well, not for me, ooh never again, my brother said it will come in handy for his hands as they are dry as a bone, weathered skin.x
I thought you could use it to clean your intestines - it was an old remedy but I would not touch it myself. May be it might clean engines - we all make mistakes ha!
Did the same as you bought some classy vitamins which were advertised as tablets but when they arrived they were giant caplets for horses - have had an ongoing dispute about returning the goods but the company is making every excuse under the sun not to send me a returns label! Think puss is going have them crushed up in her food!
For a massage, I don’t see how it could be any better for you than something that smells a whole lot more pleasant (unless, like my younger brother, you subscribe to the view that if something tastes or smells truly horrid, it must be doing you some good !).
As for tasting it - are you trying to take your mind off your thyroid by having a really horrible taste in your mouth ? I guess that might work...
As I said, it is very viscous and would stretch the skin unless much thinned. Massaging the neck has to be done very gently as the skin is very thin and prone to stretching. I am a complementary therapist and would think that any value would be in the touch and massage technique rather than due to any oils used. I was taught to massage people who had a lot of body hair using cornflour - it is about getting the hands to glide over the skin. (Although when using scar work techniques we do want to move the skin.). Best used in soap, I feel.
