Have you tested your vitamins/minerals - before starting supplements and now after using them for some time? That will tell you if you are absorbing them, if your level hasn't improved then you're most likely not.

Have you tested to see if you have low stomach acid, which would affect absorption? Home baking soda stomach acid test here scdlifestyle.com/2012/03/3-...

Do you limit your liver to 200g per week, we shouldn't eat more than that due to it's high Vit A content.

Hi SeasideSusie only my ferritin folate

Were tested in March along with thyroids n FBC. Ive been trying to up my ferritin since August last year in March this year it was 69ng/ml 15-300 from 49ng/ml same ranges.. but i was on 3 times a day till Dec 17 then started 2 times a day till March now 1to 2 a day. Serum folate in March without supplement 9 2ng/l 2.5-9,999 my vit d last tested July last year it was 88 nmo/L but this year hardly been in any sun doing my usual long walks so decided to start d3 k2 mk7 as i do have osteoporosis i was told ages ago im due for dexa scan again due to my endo and my suppressed TSH which i told him im not over medicated im just trying to get as much advice on here as i can to help myself as i wont get any elsewhere Thank You.

If you are taking your folate at the same time as your iron, you won't be absorbing the folate. Iron blocks the absorption of vitamins.

You may have been eating Marmite this week, but are you going to be able to continue eating it week after week after week? If not, drop the folate, and get a B complex with 400 mcg methylfolate.

When do you take your thyroid hormone?

in reply to greygoose

Yes greygoose ive been taking folate same time as iron and Vit c in the mornings lucky you told me only just bought it couple weeks ago my thyroid meds at night around 9 30pm as for the Marmite i do like it. .. was just bit concerned at the salt content ill send off for a b complex soon anyway.. but i read must leave off 5 days when testing thyroid bloods does that mean all supplements or just the b complex

Just the B complex, I think. :)

I doubt you eat enough Marmite for the salt content to be a problem - the adrenals do need salt, after all - but I doubt you put it on with a trowel! lol But, by the same token, will you get enough B vits from Marmite to help you?

in reply to greygoose

Well its only that i read that somewhere about Marmite saying dont need b complex if you use Marmite but tryed it in a hot drink yesterday not so sure ?? Your right tho i could get fed up eventually as much as i like it. So can i take folate with my magnesium and d3? Ill drop the folate when i used it up

Yes, you can take it with your vit D and magnesium. It's just iron that has to be two hours away from everything except vit C. :)
