Lab results help please ππ»π
I've only looked at your thyroid resultsxas on my phone the results aren't easy to read but you look undermedicated. The aim is to get FT4 and FT3 at least in the top third of there respective ranges. As many you haven't a reading for FT3 do impossible to see the full picture but your FT4 is very very low. With a range of 12-22 then half way is 17 and to get to being in the top third you would need your results to be at least 19 so you need to ask for an increase.
Things to be tested to help your thyroid work better are Vit D, B12, folate and ferritin. But they must be optimal, not just in range.
Thank you my doctors say Iβm now over active :s as in they seem to think Iβm over medicated I get so confused but they never do t3 because we canβt get t3 meds ππ»
Lea, you have a very ignorant doctor there. You don't just test T3 because you're taking T3. You need to know your T3 level because T3 is the active hormone - T4 is a storage hormone. And, it's low T3 that causes symptoms - in fact, it's low T3 that makes you hypo, not high TSH. The TSH is just an indicator.
And, your doctor is just looking at the TSH, which is fine, not over-medicated at all, because it is still in-range. But, your FT4 is very low. So, your FT3 is probably low, too, and that's why you have symptoms. I'm afraid your doctor has no idea what he's talking about, and he's going to make you very, very ill. He doesn't know how to treat hypo.
All
My doctors have been the same I changed surgeries and still no better so feel like giving up as this has gone on since I was 16, I ended up v sick in hospital 2 years ago due to not being treated or checked correctly for my thyroid I just donβt know what to do anymore if I pay to get my t3 checked myself how will I get t3 medication now ? π xx
Post a question on here asking just that. And, hopefully, members will PM you their trusted sources.
However, I've heard it's better to double check by sending a PM to SeasideSusie or SlowDragon with the name you've been given, to make sure it's a genuine site and not a fraud.
For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4, FT3 plus TPO and TG thyroid antibodies and also very important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12
you most likely have high thyroid antibodies as you say in previous post your Mum has hypothyroidism too. So it's most likely autoimmune thyroid disease also called Hashimoto's diagnosed by high thyroid antibodies
Your FT4 is too low in range. Your GP is only looking at low TSH. You need 25mcg increase in Levothyroxine dose.
See GP and request ferritin, B12 and folate are tested and can you have trial increase in 25mcg Levothyroxine. Also ask for thyroid antibodies to be tested to see if cause of hypothyroidism is due to autoimmune thyroid disease
Improving vitamins can help increase TSH and improve conversion of FT4 to FT3.
Private tests are available. Thousands on here forced to do this as NHS often refuses to test FT3 or antibodies or vitamins
thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/testin...
Medichecks Thyroid plus vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus ten. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have money off offers.
All thyroid tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and fasting. When on Levothyroxine, take last dose 24 hours prior to test, and take next dose straight after test. This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, GP will be unaware)
Vitamin D is too low. Aiming to improve to around 100nmol.
Are you currently supplementing at all?
Vitamin D mouth spray by Better You is good as avoids poor gut function. Suggest you supplement at 2000iu for 2-3 months and retest. It's trial and error what dose each person needs.
Once you Improve level, very likely you will need on going maintenance dose to keep it there. Very important to Retest twice yearly via vitamindtest.org.uk

Do you suffer from any gut symptoms? IBS or bloating etc?
Hi again yes I get ibs too sorry for late reply hadnβt been able to get logged back in for a while x
IBS is often gluten intolerance, extremely common with Hashimoto's
Ask for coeliac blood test before trying strictly gluten free diet for 3-6 months
If coeliac test is positive you have to remain on gluten rich diet until endoscopy
If GP won't do coeliac test you can buy Β£20 online
healthcheckshop.co.uk/store...
I did one of these at home test kits and it said It wasnβt coeliac disease but I know you donβt need to be to still have a bad reaction to gluten with a thyroid disease right ? Because my doctors here will not do an endoscopy if I ask for one
