I had radiation to change to underactive and it is a nightmare. I did feel so much better when I was overactive. Sweats, no energy, bloating just feel crap. I am on 175 daily and I am unsure if this is the correct doze. Can I buy vitamins or anything to help??? I am taking Primrose Oil as maybe I am going through the menapause also. I just want a good nights sleep.!!!!

Sorry you are feeling so unwell. Can you get hold of your latest thyroid test results and any vitamins levels tested and post them here along with the laboratory ranges? We can then help. Without more information we would just be guessing what the problem is.

You poor thing but this is not uncommon. Post your latest bloods and if they have not be done you ideally need your TSH, T4 and T3 taken as well as vitamin D, B12, folate and ferritin. If your GP unwilling or unable to do this it might be worth paying to have private bloods. Blue horizens do deals for thyroid uk members.I would partiucalry like to see your T3 as I suspect you might not be converting your T4 (thestore of thyroid hormone supplied by your levo) to T3 which is the active thyroid hormone that the cells of your body uses.

If you are on Levo only you likely need some help converting it to active T3. Your symptoms sound possibly like poor conversion, irritable bowel, with poor adrenal function, but we need more data. I recommend doing a private lab. Someone will hopefully give you the options. Contact Slow Dragon for her advice. In the meantime it would not hurt to take Magnesium Citrate (away from thyroid meds) to help with Menopause, facilitate Vitamin D absorption and help your heart and adrenals. Serum Mag tests are unreliable and it is easy to tell if you're having too much as you'll get loose bowel movements. Magnesium works well with B6 and Zinc. The only contraindication I know of is kidney disease. Research Magnesium for yourself.
