Hi, does anyone take Remag magnesium supplement or ReCalcia calcium supplement? After reading Judith Longmire's letter in the latest copy of Harmony, about Dr Carolyn Dean's theories on magnesium deficiency in low thyroid, I am thinking of changing over from my current supplements. Remag and ReCalcia are expensive but I don't mind paying if they really are worth it. Has anyone tried them ? With good results?
Thanks.

I am currently using Remag and am generally pleased with it's effects. For the first 3 or 4 months i felt much calmer and my body felt more relaxed and all without any diarrhea. About 2 months ago I began getting bad diarrhea which went away when I stopped using the Remag but I felt less calm without it. I contacted Dr Dean's site about this and they suggested that I take it with psyllium husks to avoid the diarrhea and to also take it with Remyte (her mineral mixture) both have which have worked to an extent. I have taken Magnesium supplements for years - finding glycinate, malate and taurate the best for me - but feel that Remag is more effective than other supplements when it doesn't cause diarrhea!!
I was buying it from a uk business but found it was quite a bit cheaper to buy direct from Dr Dean's site, despite the lengthy shipping times.
As someone else has suggested I would be careful about supplementing with calcium. I think we are more likely to be deficient in potassium than calcium and felt better when I started taking potassium - I have high blood pressure,
The Remag does taste horrible.
Hope this helps.

I have been taking ReMag. The effects have been nothing short of astounding for me. I have lots of MSK issues and have found that I can be suffering with muscular aches and pain and taking this just for a single day means I wake the next day with relaxed and flexible muscles, where usually I am worse after the relative immobility of sleep.
I also feel more relaxed, and less stress or anxious. It also seems to help with that 'down' feeling...generally I have gone from being a very up or very down person to a nice much steadier mood, still a little undulation with life's events, but nothing like before. I am now resilient.
I find it easy to tolerate. /Zero side effects unless I am not matching my calcium intake to it.Search her videos on you tube or her books for more details on the need to take similar amounts and other minerals needing to balance also.
I would only ever drink it with a whole lemon juice to somewhat over a pint on liquid. It would be quick undrinkable without, especially with the recommended sea salt.
I also know it is being absorbed as I get low calcium foot cramps towards the end of the day if I take it without the equal amount of calcium. (fyi for anyone taking this...calcium carbonate is not absorbed by us; look for cytoplan's wholefood calcium or another similar product.
If you watch her videos on what happens to the bones and arteries when you supplement with calcium only you may see an error of your ways if you are a hypothyroid dairy sensitive person. I can personally attest to what she says after 20 years of avoid dairy and taking calcium, then seeing an immediate spiral fracture age 44 when it should just have been just a sprain...I'll be taking the ReMag for the rest of my life to make sure my bones are nice and rubber...wish I had known before well menopause..
Very interesting insights/explanation into Vitamin D deficiency on her videos also. This deficiency is common with hypo thyroid and well worth checking her video out. I'm waiting to get re-tested now I am taking it and the whole food calcium to see if my Vit D deficiency of 18months to 20 years is now resolved.
Your experience is exactly the same as mine. I took wake up with that difference in my muscles and know its working from the low calcium cramping in the feet.
Word for word. I wish I had known about this before menopause too. I broke my ankle a few years back and knowing what I know now, I know this was 25years of calcium supplementation without any knowledge of the role of magnesium.
I'm on HRT to give me the time to try to address the rubbery bones issue before its too late.
Just one pointer for you. Check out Candida overgrowth. I've reduced my thyroid meds by 50% and think I may even get off them as a result of addressing Candida. It is really hard to cut out everything you need to beat it. Especially if you have stress in your life, but if you can manage it, it is life changing.
