Updated result with thyroid antibodies

Hello

I just got the missing result but forgot to ask for the units!

It’s the thyroid peroxidase (?? Spelling ) = 238

The other results I posted earlier are:

TSH 0.75 mU/L (0.27-4.2)

fT4 28.7 pmol/L (12-22)

FT3 4.2 pmol/L (3.2-6.8)

Serum folate 13ug/L (4.6-18.7)

25 OH vit D 73.3nmol/l

B12 1177 ng/L (180-700)

I’ve lost about 7lb since May & am anxious with a nervousness. I don’t know if it’s the thyroid or the ? Underlying condition causing the numbness heat & tingling & headaches ??

The GP doesn’t really seem too concerned. I’ve seen 2 neurologists & am waiting to get referral to endocrinologist.

If anyone has any good ideas I’d love to hear them.

Thank you x

Hi Polly. I noticed your B12 is very high too, has your GP flagged this up? My results are very similar but my GP seems clueless 😰

No Kw my GP hasn’t said a word. I was just looking at it thinking it was high.

What symptoms do you get?

Thx

It is safe to say that you with your raised antibodies you have Hashimoto's which on its own could cause all the symptoms you describe. Finding the possible root cause and addressing it could help.

Regarding you high B12 level - has anybody mentioned any possible methylation problems? If the vit b12 you are taking now is cyanocobalamin it may not convert into methylcobalamin which is what cells need. Due to faulty genes a significant percentage of population have methylation problems so it might be worth checking.

Thank you so much Samaja

I had never been tested for antibodies before & ive been on thyroxine for nearly 17 years! So I don’t know if the Hashimotos is a new thing or something that’s always been there. Is there any way of finding that out?

Are my antibodies exceptionally high ? I don’t know anything about this & what it means for me. I really need to see an endocrinologist. I’ve been feeling so rough over the last 4-6weeks that I’ve not pushed it & have been trying to get to the bottom of the neuro symptoms which have been most debilitating and exhausting & anxiety inducing. All doctors tell me they cannot be due to thyroid issues hence the Lymes suspicion.

I’ve just checked the vit B12 & it’s the methyl version so hopefully not an issue.

I’m having some more bloods done on Monday this time I will leave it 24hrs after taking my Levothyroxine dose.

Thank you again

Your B12 is high as you are supplementing and results are skewed ! Could it be your adrenals ?

Your anti-bodies are raised but have seen much higher - including my own !

Thank you Marz.

I guess it could be adrenals? I don't know what those symptoms would be like & if my symptoms fit? Do you know? I guess an endocrinologist ought to know?

I've stopped taking vitamin Bcomplex and will get tested again privately.
